Pen Knife testing; Rope cut re-visited

My first attempts at the free hanging 1" manila rope cut didn't go well, and that bothered me because the Pen knife should be more than capable of it. It is! I scrounged another piece of manila rope, this one slightly larger than one inch diameter, but in much better condition than the first. One of my buddys watched with growing curiosity as I hung it up, not knowing what I was up to. Curiosity turned to sheer horror as I drew my Pen Knife, delivered a perfect swing, and severed the rope as cleanly as if done with a surgical laser. The look on his face was a mixture of shock and disbelief. He walked away with the severed piece of rope in his hand, staring at it and muttering something indiscernable.

The Pen Knife is impressing me more with each use. Uncle Bill, if a new list gets started to order more PKs please put me down for two. One for yours truly, and one for my kid brother who got me interested in HI khukuris to start with.:)

I don't want to dampen your spirits, Sarge, but the AF Capt., Paul, I wrote about had this to say of some of the standard knife tests: "I was never attacked by a rope or tree stump."

But good stuff no matter what Paul says and thanks.

Who wants a Pen Knife besides Sarge?

I probably should have grabbed one of the rusty ones. But if another batch is made I'll definitely buy one.

Hi Sharri,
The Pen Knife didn't take long at all to sharpen, thanks to the great job Bura did in making it. I won't bore you with my knife sharpening techniques because there's not much new I can add. I will say that if it's good enough steel, properly heat treated and tempered, I can get it straight razor sharp. The Pen Knife is all of the above:)

He makes a very good and valid point Uncle. But, unless I get bushwhacked over here and I'm carrying nothing but my Pen Knife, the "advanced testing" is going to have to wait until I get back to Texas and try it out on some Axis deer or feral hogs (was that my stomach growling?):D

I don't think "WANTS" is the issue. Maybe...Who can sneak a Pen knife into the house? or Who can make up a reason that they gotta have one in the house? or Who needs to find out for themselves that this is the khuk/knife/creation/completion of collection/fulfillment of heart's desire/surrogate participatory birth souvenir that they have been waiting for?

but "wants?" The list would be too long.

We're all in this together, somehow.

i definitely will take another one thanks bill, i wasant kidding about how impressed i am.:D :D :D

Please, oh please put me down for a Pen knife! Don't want to miss this one!
-SB:D

I would like to say put me down for one, but with my luck right when they come through my car will break down again. :D How much are they running for? Can we pre-pay?

They're an even hundred bucks, rusty or not.

The sure way to get one is to prepay. I have this phobia about taking money and not being able to deliver.

Sarge: How long was the rope, and how far up/down the rope did you cut? Like , was it 6ft long, and you cut it in the middle? Just wondered, I'm sure cut location and rope length make a difference.

THanks!
