i decided last week that i needed to pick myself a nice pen to write with, instead of dealing with cheap bics and things that don't write well. i remebered my father's glowing recomendation of a parker, and found this one at staples:

it does write really nicely for a fairly modestly priced pen. i paid $12 for it. very comfy in the hand due to the beefy barrel. it does really write like silk on paper and fabrics.

my friend that had accompanied me to the store surprised me when we got into the car with this cross set, a pen and pencil that he had picked up while i wasn't looking:

a nice set, but frankly i don't think it writes quite as well. maybe its because i didn't give the pen a chance to get warmed up. the tiny barrels feel like toothpicks in my hamfists. i think i will just hang on to the set for sentimental value.

so anyways, anyone else have pics of pens and knives together? i'm sure some of you will whip out the super pens that would make a pencil fan drool...can't wait to see them!

Here's a pic I just took this morning. The pen is made by Sheaffer and the knife, a SOG Twitch 2

I seldom carry a pen in my pocket and prefer the cheap gel pens for their writing smoothness, however there are some personal accessories I carry especially when dressed nicely. The gold filled lighter and cigarette case are Ronson and belonged to my father, the J.A. Henckel was my father's as well, and his father's before him I believe.
