I know there are few of you out there, who have some Phantoms, I am in the process of trying to buy one. What I need to know, is how picky I should be about the finishing on these knives.
I was told that some side to side wobble is "normal" on these knives, due to the forward position of the pivot. I was also told that the finish is not that great, on the blade, near the choil. Another trait of the Phantom??
If any of you have some answers to these questions, or first hand knowledge of these knives, please post. Thanks

MThunter, Allen makes great knives, but I would definitely NOT buy a Phantom (or any other model) without either 1) Getting to handle the knife first hand, or 2) Buying the knife from somewhere that allows you to return it within a week if you are not pleased. There are finishing problems on these knives from time to time, but the number of new Elishewitz knives that fall into this category is constantly decreasing.

I have a basic titanium model. I'd love to get a fancy mini. Anyway, there is absolutely no wobble or finish problems in my Phantom. I wouldn't accept any knife that had a problem that bothered me,[I did once and I still regret it] and these problems obviously bother you.

In my case, handling a knife first is no guarantee it's going to be perfect - don't know if it was newbie blindness but a handled and bought integral Phantom didn't lock quite right.

Didn't matter - sent it back to Allen and it came back fast and solid as a bank vault. Nice guy, great service.

No worries, mate. If my experience is any indication, if it isn't perfect, it will be made so.

Thanks
Jim
