My mailbox yielded an early example of Schatt and Morgan's series XVII for this year. I don't know what's released yet, but this was sort of a return favor. Last year, Bill Howard, before he left for Great Eastern, asked me for some examples of a "well known" legendary redbone, because he knew I had a few put back. These went to the bone supplier to use as an example for the 2007 series. I'm sure you can pick out the young'un! Do you think they did a good job??

Hey, I can post pics again! Yahoo!!!!

I'm a bit of a Railsplitter freak, and all I can say is that is AWESOME!

I really like Red bone and peach seed jigging as well. I'm gonna have me at least one of those and probably two.

So when do they hit the streets?

I think they are almost finished. I wasn't sure if they released them all together, but I know they are not done with the pearl knife that's part of the set.

Nice to see the old red bone coming back! They matched that color very well. I made the suggestion that the 2007 knife be either older-style red bone or honey bone in peachseed because of my love for it.

I mentioned it to them a year or so ago too, sierra; I guess they listen to their customers!

Now THAT is what red bone is SUPPOSED to look like, not neon glowing red like some of these new knives around! Looks like an excellent job duplicating the old red to me.

Thanks for posting that comparison photo Charlie! It looks like Queen did a fine job, as I was told this years Annual set was one to watch. I too am waiting for the set to arrive. With 5 Red bone, multi blade knives (Railsplitter, Stockman, Lg. Barlow, Dogleg Whittler & Horticulturists) and 4 blade mini-congress in Black Lip Pearl. I think this is going to be a great set to have.

Is Queen/S&M going with ATS-34 or 420HC for this series?

Also, has anyone used the Queen/S&M 420HC?
How does it compare with Buck or Case? I know Case doesn't call it 420HC but it most likely is. Anywho, I find that Buck 420HC is good
whereas the Case stuff not so much.
(can you tell I'm a user more then a collector?)

All of the Annual Reproduction Series are 420HC since 2001. The 1999 & 2000 Series had ATS-34 steel on the primary blade. The years preceding that the Annual Series were "Queen steel" or 440A.

I like Queen's 420 much better than Case's, And quite comparable the Buck's.
