After I noticed the Pigsticker I got doesn't have a date code, I checked with Joe and discovered they were all supposed to have a code. Does anyone else have a Pigsticker without a date code and if so what it the date on the box? He also said the correct production number was 1886 (both export and domestic versions).

Hi Mitch,

there's no date mark? The Pigsticker alsways has the arrow point down for 2007.
But you have a knife that was not for sale in the U.S. may be that this is the bacground
that there is no code on it. I will open my eyes when I find a Pigsticker here
in Germany and have a look how it is marked. But I think you have a speical one ;-)).

Just now I found an active auction with a pigsticker that has no date code too.
The box is marked with 12/12/2008. Was this knife in production for more than a year?

I think box dates may correlate more closely with shipping date than knife manufacture date.

At least sometimes.

Or maybe won't correlate with much of anything.

:D

Mitch, the final question would be "How many were made in both runs?". I have never seen that answer.

1886 was the total # built.
The Date on the box should be the manufacture date
I'd be willing to bet that when we ran the 2nd run, we did it without date codes due to availabilty (or lack therof) a stamp block.

Next question: Which was ran first, export or domestic? Is there any other way to tell them apart without the box. Oh and how many we're for overseas sales? Inquiring minds want to know!

Where is the code supposed to be satmped, the blade or the box?

The only one I've ever held was an export since my buddy had bought it in Australia; however I think it had been modified, since the blade had been some how bead-blasted or coated and, after joining the forums, I found out that such configuration was not a factory option.

The Pigsticker is beadblasted not coated. Pigsticker is the second one down.

Imagine what will happen if it's discovered that there are a few with no date code? There may be people going ape-dodo trying to get one!
