I was quite angered when I was forced to send my Randall Model 14 and BKT Campanion home, and I have decided that I need a nice fixed blade under 3". As I was looking around, I saw a few references to the Pikuni, found pics and a site taht sells them for about 86 bucks.

D2? G10? Multicarry sheath? Sounds good to me, but a few questions: can the sheath be carried horizonatlly on a belt? Is it double ground (I do not like single grind blades)? Finally I would just like general comments on uility or comfort of use.

Thanks a bunch.

The Pikuni is a nice little knife. The sheath is reversible right/left, or neck carry. It has a very stout blade. The handle is small but feels good and works well, a "three finger" knife. It is double ground and takes and holds a great edge.

I think the REKAT Pikuni is a fabulous knife for the price mentioned. The steel is great, the heat treat is right and the Stonewash finish is good. The sheath is from Mike Sastre and is typical of his work, great! In fact I was looking at his Pikuni sheath today and am modeling my custom Pikuni after Mikes sheath. However I dont think the sheath converts to horizontal carry, but it is ambidextrious. It is drilled with the correct spacing to fit a Tek-Lock and the Tek-Lock will lend itself to horizontal carry. It also it set up for neck carry. All in all I think Rekat is doing a great job on the Pikuni and it is certainly a stout tough little knife! :)

I converted my Pikuni Sheath to Horizontal Carry by adding one hole.

It is a nice little knife. I am thinking of asking Rob Simonich to put a Custom Edge on it though because I feel like the factory edge is a little thick.

This is a great knife. I've had it for a year, and it is still my favorite knife to carry! The steel is great, the feel of it is great, the sheath is great. Umm, it is great! :D

SDouglas, never ever tell me there is no rush! :D I will be a couple weeks befor I can get to it with the shows and such though.

Rob,

I'm both pleased and flattered that you plan to make the sheaths for your custom Pikunis along the lines of the ones I did for REKAT. The Pikuni is an outstanding little knife and REKAT's version would still be a bargain if it was priced at $150. My taste in fixed blades generally runs a bit larger ;), but I really love this little fella. Excellent design!! Will you be at SHOT or the Las Vegas Classic? If so, see ya there.

I was wondering where I can get one..... every place that I've found carrying REKAT's doesnt list them anymore.

Stiletto Raggio, as I understand it, USMA is quite tough about what it lets you all carry or possess. At least it was in the 1960s when my friends went there and it was in my Dad's time, Class of 1934. Please don't screw up and cost us a good officer!

Unfortunately, the As For Class uniform taht we wear doena't really permit carry of anyhting, as it can't be visible, and there are no front pockets. This would be mostly for BDUs, which lend themselves to discreet carry. The regs for my company are three inches max, so I am within my bounds. Thanks for caring, though, and if you father is still around, let him know that the Corps has not slipped, as many think.

Still maintaining the standard,

Alex

even though one needed re-grinding and the other is slightly warped:eek: both are from the first batch. Nevertheless it is my favorite knife design. Someday I'll get a flawless one:)
