pirced blade anyone?!

I don't like the semi-serated blades. To me they look ugly as hell and I really don't have use for them anyways.

Well, I sure didn't buy either one of my 42's to look pretty. I carry a 42a and a 42as so I always have whatever I need. The serrations are great for rope, sticks, and gashing open fingers far better than any straight edge. :D

I used my 1/2 double-edged, 1/3 serrated, BM42 for disecting cardboard, and unlashing plastic strapping today. Serrations are great for EDC., but for the "Beauty of the Blade", I prefer plain edge.
I can't think of anything to use pierced blades for except "bloodletting" and maybe fishing?

Pierced blades can look pretty badass if done well, though...

I had a hard time getting used to anything serrated, and in honesty I still don't like the look of serrations on a Balisong. As Blade420 and Blasto mentioned..., they certainly can be defended for some everyday cutting tasks, and lend themselves well to cutting fiberous materials especially.

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

i don't like serrated balisong that much... that makes them look more like utillity knives, and a bali is not a utillity knife! ;)

but my thoughts, though. and that's from the look. i can agree that a serrated knife is waaay better to cut ropes & stuff than a straight edge.
but i personally like a straight blade profile.

who says a bali can't be a utility knife?

I just used mine to dislodge some stuck quarters out of a coke machine. Stupid machine her at work had some quarters lodged in the coin slot. After a little bali magic, out came 5 shiny quarters in the coin return.

my bali serves as: a cutting instrument, finger/hand exerciser, toy, misdemeanor, and babe magnet.

You'd be surprised how many women are impressed at a little flash.

hehehe. if i flash it here, i'll probably be arested...

but i'm not saying a bali can't be a utillity knife, i'm just saying i'm not that big fan of serrations...

I would go so far as to say that a bali is THE utility knife of knives. Ultra-strong lock, and about a zillion other unique uses, which have been listed in previous threads. If you dropped me off in a jungle and I could only have one folding knife on me, it would be a bali, hands down.

Hmm... if my survival came down to my life, I'd prefer a knife with a thicker blade (both directions). What makes you think a balisong would be good in a jungle?

I agree about the thickness, but there are plenty of "beefy" bali blades out there. My thinking was that the majority of knives, fixed and folders, are little more than knives. But a bali is a your best buddy. :D I've come to rely on my balisongs as a part of my day-to-day life. And I'm not talking about flashy manipulations and chick-appeal. I'm talking about good old-fashioned on-the-spot ingenuity, which the bali was made for, IMHO. Pliers, line-stringer, nut cracker and the list goes on. And yes, there are times in my imaginary jungle when the bali would not be the best blade to have, but if I had to pick just one, it would by my trusted balisong. Versatility is a powerful, powerful tool.
