Greetings you all:)

I mostly hang out at the Traditionals, but I suppose this question is better suited over here.

I would very much like to try out the 309 as a traditional pocket knife.
I can order and get it over here at a (for the Netherlands that is:grumpy:) reasonable price.

However I've read a not so favourable review on it on Amazon.com.
It said that the currently made Companions have bad fit and finish.
I would very much like to know if that is true because I don't want to spend 45 euros on a knife that will disappoint me or have to send it back to Buck and pay twice that amount in the end(taxes and import duties:grumpy:)
I will get the knife as a birthday present from my 15 year old son who has saved up for this.

I hope you can help me out on this.

Thanx very much for reading:cool::thumbup:

I've got 2, one from mid 90's and the other a 2011 that I just got as a warranty replacement and I fail to see any problem with fit or finish. The person doing the review on Amazon may be one of the people that are convinced that all BUCKS are made in China and are gauging their review accordingly.

I just went and read the review. That person sounds like he/she has an axe to grind. They say they sent BUCK emails and "they didn't respond". I find that hard to believe. It's not too hard to get their phone number, it's right there at the bottom of the website. They probably work for CASE:D:D:D.

Yes......BEWARE of the Amazon reviews.

Some are good, some are lies and you can often single those out by careful reading.

Buck has always responded to my e-mails--without fail--so the guy's story is suspect.

Sorry I don't have one of the knives, but Mitch does, and he would know if there was a problem.

You will get some other responses on this, I'm sure.

Good luck.

The problem with Amazon reviews is that many negative reviews are against the seller, rather than the actual product. It seems there's no way to differentiate on Amazon.

I had a couple of warranty issues with my Buck knives, and both times the folks at Buck did what they could to make it right. I think you'll be fine, even if you happen to get a lemon.

I checked out the knife on Amazon. 3 of the 4 reviews gave 5 stars. I'd take that as a good sign. I've got a couple of 30x series Bucks and they're great knives.

Search this forum for 309 threads, there are a bunch. More info to calm your fears.
