Can you make a clip that would fit in factory holes on my SMF? The original clip has far too much tension and I would like it to be a little longer. Thank you.

No sir. Don't offer a clip for the Striders at all. Sorry. I don't have the means to make one like that with the tab and a low rider to use that size screw is out of the question.

Steve, I was going to pick up an SNG some time soon and I was hoping that you'd be able to do a clip for it, and then I see this thread.

Could you elaborate on why exactly you can't/won't do one? Would you consider doing one as a custom one-off for more than your usual fees?

East it has to be something that I can easily do again and again and again or its just asking for being hit with a bunch of requests for something I can't steadily provide people. If I do one off special for one and stop then people get mad. I've tried to do them on that model. I don't have the means to make that pop out tab which means outside service fees, new template fees and additional cost and so on and they are few and far between for requests so its not worth the $150 set up and programming fee to start that process. But aside from this its difficult for me to even bend clips that wide and it would have to be wide. For one it would be too wide to fit in my brake I use for bending my clips. So that means I would have to do the bends by hand since thats the only other way I have to hold it unless I want to vise it and mar it all up in the process and even then my vise just won't quite hold it the way it needs. The wider a piece gets the harder and harder it is to make a fold over on it.

The easiest way to do it would be to drill new holes and start over putting a whole new clip on the thing but even that is problematic. Its not like the knife offers a lot of prime spots to bury the knife in the pocket and I have to tell you knives with lock cuts on the outside are particularly troublesome for mounting pocket clips in tip up right hand carry at times. (or left hand tip up if its a true south paw folder with the lock on the opposite side) I've actually had people write me asking what they could do about their PT or SnG getting snagged occasionally by the lock cut catching the rim of their pocket as they pull it out wanting me to smooth or round down the sharp cuts so they were not so profound and that is with them as they came from Strider. Low riders make this problem more profound at times. So its not just the fact that the clip doesn't have a lot of spots to pick from its also that I have to avoid getting within a certain proximity to that lock cut which as you know is not a little cut out. I've run into lock cut issues with every Tyrade or JYDII frame lock by Kershaw I've ever flipped the clip on including my own model. Outside lock cuts can and do catch the pocket and they can cause one to drop their knife. Its happened and been reported to me on more than one occasion for the Strider folders besides others and thats with the factory clips installed. Usually the instant solution and what I tell people asking me about this is to raise the clip stem so its no longer holding so tight and if it still does it raise it up off the folder so its not even touching on the end.

On the CC models I have additional issues with the curve of the handle. The clip wants to sit flat but the handle is half moon shaped from contouring it. It can be a pain that way to do even drill straight holes on some of them. I've only done one for a Strider PT CC. It was not something I care to do a lot of. In fact I just turned down one for that this morning. Honestly I'm glad most folks don't want to modify their knives particularly ones of that price point.

Thanks for the reply Steve, that makes sense now. I'm going to have to re-consider my purchase, I think.
