Yeah I'm very familar with the U2. I've owned several over the years myself. All were equipped with thumb studs and pocket clips.

I have not done one in quite a long while though. I used to use a Gerber LST clip but those are not available now and to be honest a titanium one would work. I just simply thread the FRN handle and like I tell everyone that has either a fiberglass reinforced nylon, micarta, or G10 handle that is threaded without a steel or ti liner underneath if you follow three simple guidelines the threads can and do hold up.

1) never use glue or loctite in the threads of the clip screws. Doing so can severely weaken if not strip the threads entirely the first time the screws are backed out after being secured this way in these materials.

2) never overtighten the screws. They need only be snug to work.

3) don't make a habit of taking the clip on and off.

People that have followed these guidelines have clips on their FRN and other type man made material folders lasting many years. Some of the older Cold Steel folders I did for folks are at least 15 years old and still working.

My sticky threads top the page have two threads which have my work order form to fill out and print out if you mail me a folder. All you need to get one to me is in either the low rider thread or the read this to mail me work thread.

Thanks for asking.

The blade is wonderful. Its the best little edge keeper around. It just needed an update with a thumbstud ( which I did install ) and a pocket clip.

One of the biggest draw backs to carrying a lock back in the pocket deep is that the lock mechanism gets crammed full of lint to where the lock becomes unreliable. I've had numerous U2 folders sent to me or brought by that the owners said were suddenly not locking and its just that a lot of the time. The very first one I ever handled belonged to a customer for just this reason.

I have to drill a hole in the blade to mount a stud, then I have to modify the handle to let the blade close. Its a lot of work to make the FRN presentable once you sand into it with a dremmel. The job always ran $50 plus shipping for both the clip and the stud but it never kept folks from sending them. I've done quite a few actually. All were when I had my old forum though and some of those are posted on the FallKniven forum with comments by the owner of the company who said fairly good things about it. I really did not enjoy doing these. I feel by the time I'm done that I'm basically paying folks to do them because if I actually billed for the time it takes I would want more. I've only found one way to make FRN look right and its still tricky. The stuff wants to melt away instead of sand and you have to stop a lot so it stays cool. Its a real pain to modify FRN folders like this one.

Anyway, thats the case. The clip and stud separate are always $30 each plus shipping. $30 is my minimum shop fee on most jobs these days as it barely covers the minimum for one hours worth of work as it is with electric, belts, drills, etc. Just FYI>
