Pointed or Round tang on RC-3

I have been thinking about getting a new RC-3, but I can't decide on the glass breaker tang, or the rounded one. I plan on carrying this for hikes, etc. Does anyone find the pointed one to be uncomfortable in the hand? If the glass breaker is not noticeable in the hand, then I would probably go for it. Does anyone know which is more popular?
Thanks.

Personally I would not recomend the glass breaker unless you were a police officer, rescue worker of some sort, or for some other reason will need to break glass to remove an individual from a trapped position. If you're just buying it for hikes and EDC, get the rounded one. In my opinion, its more comfortable to carry. You don't get jabbed every once in a while by the pommel.

I have never had a need for a glass breaker. I was just wondering if I would be missing something if I skipped it.

Modified pommel(rounded) for outdoor folks and Military/EMS/Po-Po or firemen glass breaker. No you would not miss it at all...

Is it still possible to break glass even with the rounded pommel? I know that most glass is tempered and difficult to shatter, but shouldn't even the rounded end be hard enough to break glass or does the pointed end make a huge difference?

If not, then is the tip of a RC-4 or RC3 strong enough to break glass in an emergency?

The point makes all the difference in the world. it will break every time with the point. If you are needing to get OUT, you can always use the point of the knife too. BAD for the knife, but if you have to get out, good for you. :)

NO you can't borrow mine. ;)

I have a pair of RC3's and both have point pommel,I guess upon the release of the Green RC's I will get rounded pommel...

I'd get the rounded.
Not much glass to be broken in the woods.

If I had to get OUT of my car, I suppose my 4D Maglite would break a window easy enough.

If I was trapped in my car and had to break the glass to get out, I'd just ram the tip of my blade into the glass. If it screws the knife up or somehow damages the blade, GUESS WHAT... They fix it. Thats the beauty of R.A.T. Cutlery. No questions asked. I can't imagine it would do any damage that i couldn't repair in a relatively short amount of time at home though.

Has anyone found the glass breaker pommel to be uncomfortable when using the RC-3?

I like the pointed...it tends to be useful on other things than just glass

unless the primary purpose of your knife will be law enforcement related, then go with the rounded pommel. On an outdoors hiking / camping blade it is so much more useful as a hammer and other handy things.

This has nothing to do with the knife, however, I was once trapped in a car and tried o break a window with a 3D cell maglight and it just didnt work. I smacked it really hard, as I was fearing for my life. Scared as hell I did end up breaking the window with a cheapy folder I had, and yes it wrecked the tip but I am fine and so is the passenger that knocked themselves unconcious, so really who cares. Moral, blunt object no matter how burly dont bust tempered glass get something sharp and smack it good.
