Hey, I have a gerber mark II circa 1980 with the black leather sheath in mint condition, although i have a lil mark (scratch) on the blade going against the grain of the hollow grind. like 1/4 inch. that you can only see if you tilt the blade just so.

It's really light/superficial .....Is there a polish that will get rid of it?

You shouldn't make fun of Polish People:mad: , I'm Sorry My Polish Wife just infomed me that it's polish. Never mind:rolleyes:

Try Flitz. Hardware stores and gun stores should carry Flitz metal polish.

Hi Everyone-

If you need something more abrasive as the "first step," you could always use Valve Lapping Compound. This can be obtained at automotive supply stores. Use this on an old towel so you can really apply some elbow grease to the job.

Paper towels are moderately abrasive if used at this point. From there, you can move to Flitz or Mother's as suggested by Nimrod. If you need a nice-looking edge, leather stropping works well, too.

I usually finish with tissues or cotton baby diapers if a mirror-polish is needed on something...like my motorcycle.

Music Compact Disc repair kits work on fine scratches, the kit comes with different grade wet sand papers and a fine paste polish
