I'm what kind of motions do you guys use to polish a knive?
I've been trying to polish the tang part of the CRKT F4 that I had with 1000 wet/dry sandpaper, and although I know that this grit wouldn't yield mirror finish, it leaves quite a bit of scratch mark when I use circular motion. If I use other motions, for example if I polished it in a motion parallel to the length of the knife, then it would look shiny when I held it up straight and scratchy if I held it in another way.
Also, could a tang be made so that it's not perfectly flat? I'm already using a hard flat surface to sand it on but still it would wear down certain parts before others.
