I just wanted to say I checked out a Poliwog last Wednesday and I really liked it. It looks weird even by Spyderco standards when it is closed. Mike at Grand Prairie said it reminded him of the Star Trek insignias that Cpt. Kirk and co. wore on that show. Open, however, it really fitted my hand perfectly and the blade was just like a mini-Native. It is all SS and a bit heavy, but it is a cool little knive with the ball lock.

I have liked it since the first time that I saw the photos. I appears to be a stout little knife.

I agree that it looks unusual, but also utilitarian. I am looking forward to getting one. I would like to hear from anyone else who has actually handled/used one and their opinions.:D

I handled it again but I ended up deciding that a ZDP 189 Calypso would be better for now. I will get a Poliwog though. It is super stout. It is also pretty heavy, 4.1 oz. That is a lot for knife under 6" long. Still I'm a sucker for that Native style blade, I wanted a Benchmade mini Presidio, but I guess I'm a Spyderco guy at heart. ;)

you did good because the ZDP Caly is only a sprint run, when they're gone...

the poliwog is a normal model, will be around for some time :)

The Polliwog made my "must have" list when I handled it at Blade. Just ordered one from NGK a couple of hours ago.

I am too, but I just got my BM 520, and, well, wow.

I broke down and got that Mini Presidio anyway. :foot: I went over my budget and I may have to let something go. I still would like a Poliwog though.

Got mine in the mail today from NGK, along with a ZDP Caly Jr and a pair of R2s. It's the first ball lock that I can close easily, so thats a BIG point in its favor. Feels good in the hand when opened, but think it will take some getting use to the feel of it when closed and also in my pocket. Am not one for clips, and I think the Polliwog may almost need to be carried that way, but time will tell. Agree with you Anthony that, especially considering the small size, the weight was rather surprising. The Navigator II, which is only slightly smaller, and lacks the vents, weighs over an ounce less.

I'm awaiting mine to show in the mail. Funny, the shape made me think of a Klingon weapon when I first saw it.

Sob, one condition is to live in USA, i'm thinking france is not an US state. It will be for the next time. :(

Poliwog seem to be a great knife.

I just got mine today and all I can say is "wow". It's very heavy for its size. I totally agree about the ball-lock, being the best iteration yet. I love how it feels in the hand.

I would love to get a kydex neck sheath for the Poliwog and replace the FRN Cricket that I carry regularly.

I said this over on the Spydie Forum ... This one is like a Swiss Watch. It is tight .. tight .. tight ... and super sharp. NICE ..... I am impressed..!

Long time no see Anthony. Even though the "Wog doesn't appeal to me, you should get both. Then, you can sell one to me at the St. Louis show ;)
