I have a second Poliwog, which I couldn't pass up because it was a good deal.
It has the same details as the first unit I complained about. Missing (or not?) washer, and one of the rear-most cutouts for the lock piston is not aligned as I would expect. I haven't tried it much to see if the little piston (which I formerly called a tube, but it isn't) will eventually rotate and scrape against the handle like the other knife did.
I fixed the first knife because I had a nylon washer in my assets and a Dremel with the perfect bit to fix the piston hole. I had to sand down the nylon washer VERY thin to make it fit. I didn't mind fixing the first knife myself because I just don't mind doing those things and I already planned on making this knife a real user. But the second knife I intend to put in my sacred collection of knives I won't touch. I guess I will mail it to Spyderco, wasting the money I saved on this unit
, to ensure I get one in perfect condition.
Anyone else have a Poliwog like this, or did I just happen to throw snake eyes?
