Yesterday I finally made it to the post office, and had 2 (!) boxes waiting. Stuff from Reno shows up fast - I think the khuk transit average is about 2 days, so the limiting factor is more when I can get to the mail, not when the mail gets to me.
Anyway, I had an 18" Bura AK to replace the late Chiruwa, and a Sher BAS that I picked up as a PGA early this week.
Initial impressions: the AK is a handful of knife. I have a 20" Sirupati, but the AK makes it look like a waif. Handle is very good - fairly long and fat. It feels great. Also, handles on the karda and chamka are much longer than other ones I have. The karda will make an excellent utility knife. The edges on both the karda and khuk are also very good - they just about pass the light test, with just a tiny bright line down near the cho.
The BAS is also very interesting - I would almost go as far as cute. I can see why they're popular (besides the price). It strikes me as a lithe little blade that will do anything pretty well. Handle is a little on the short side for my hands, but otherwise excellent. I think the length will be OK, but I'll have to use it a bit to see.
I didn't have a chance to get outside and swing them around last night, but I get done a little early today, there's still a branch in my yard, and I think the AK might have a little score to settle
