Hi,

Does anyone know if the "satin" finished Mach-1 blades are actually satin finished, or are they actually bead-blasted? I've heard that Emerson is using the terms synoymously.

We use the term satin finish to discern between the black/non-black knives. The current Mach-1's are actually hard chromed.

My current daily carry is a CQC-7A with green G-10 handles and a satin blade. I use the knife unmercilessly, and the coating has held up MUCH better than what I might have guessed.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

I was looking at the new website, and in one section it described the "satin" as being chromed or titanium finished, and in the FAQ it described the satin as "uncoated," so I guess it depends upon the specific model.
