The only difference between those two knives seems to be the tip. What are the dis/advantages of them? Is one "better" than the other?

Thanks,
Ralf

I personally like the Project II. I don't really plan on using it unless I go on some big expedition on Africa or something. For me it was all a matter of looks. I hear the Project I has a stronger tip, but it's pretty rare of anyone actually breaking the tip off of a Chris Reeve knife. Here's a pic of my baby:

There's no comparison. The Project I tip is sreonger and moer inline with the purpose of the knife- survival / utility. My 2 cents

Taste's great! Less Filling!
It's all up to your own personal tastes. Both are great knives and will last you a lifetime. Although the Project II has a weaker point than the Project I, It still has a pretty darn strong tip. Both are pretty much like a single bar of A2 steel. Ask Chris if anyone has ever sent in a Project II for warranty replacement because the tip broke off.

I had one of the first Project II's and after six/seven years on my webbing order it still gives me confidence and has never let me down. I like my knives to be too sharp and the PII has never edge chipped after countless wackings. The Project I could be a better option for turf cutting, crow bar work and chopping. It has that extra body up front, but the PII did it all so this arguement is academic. My PII will outlast me. I carried it for hundreds of miles and never once wanted to leave it in my locker.
