Does anyone have experience with ProLoad?

I am specifically interested in their Tactical Lite .357 Magnum 125-grain JHP round. This is for a Ruger GP100 with 3" barrel. It is rated at 1125 fps, but I am guessing that is from a 4" test barrel. I expect that it will be about 1050-1075 fps, somewhere between .38 Special + P and the Remington Golden Sabre. It is definitely a reduced-pressure round, so should have more managable recoil and reduced muzzle flash.

If you haven't tried the .357 Magnum, I would appreciate hearing general comments about other calibers of ProLoad ammo you have used. Also, any experiences with ordering from them. It seems to be good quality, but nobody carries it locally. From their web site, it is a minimum $60 order.

Thanks!

I've put plenty of it through my guns (Glock 21 .45ACP and Ruger GP100 4" Stainless) and have always found their stuff to be reliable and accurate. I can't ever remember having a Proload dud. I have no chrono so I can't say exactly how fast the stuff is moving, but I think the stuff my .357 is loaded with is Proload 125Gr. JHP rated at around 1150fps.

Happy shooting.

Proload is absolutely top-notch ammo, well worth the price. I've shot both the full house and tactical lite .357 loads, and while I didn't chrono them, there was not as much of a difference as I expected. If you're looking for a .357 round that won't overpenetrate and won't deafen you if you have to shoot it indoors without protection, this probably isn't it. I don't know if there is such a thing. If you want to know more, call them up. John Kopeck (sp?) is the boss, and usually answers the phone. He'll talk your ear off, but he's worth listening to. He knows his product and his market, and I'm sure he'll be able to answer whatever questions you may have.

Great, thanks guys. I'll give them a call. If I go into local sporting goods stores and ask for anything other than Remington, Federal, or Winchester, I'm pretty much guaranteed that the clerk will not be familiar with it.
