Puerto Rico...Heading down, anybody there?

Hi, heading down next week on Tuesday to Puerto Rico and wondered if any one is from there? I'll be down for the week, leaving on Saturday.

Staying in Vega Alta, going to work at the Glass Factory there.

This may not be up to date, but my father in law used to work for TWA (now retired). About 10 years ago he used to pull regular duty in Puerto Rico. He worked with the locals in training for TWA maintenance. When he went there he stayed with one of the maintenance supervisors. The guy used to wear a gun at all times. Told my father in law it was a necessary precaution because of conditions there (bandits or rebels or something).

Don't know if that's still true there, but an out of date warning is better than no warning at all.

Hope someone from there can provide a report of current conditions before you go. The father in law did say there was some beautiful scenery there.

Hope you have a safe trip.

Thanks for the heads up Bob, maybe I'll just pack my little CS Culloden and keep it handy? I usually stay away from nasty places, and work will keep me in the plant most of the day. Just wondered if any formites were there.

I used to pull into PR all the time when I was on my ship. We moored at Rosevelt Roads. Usually it was during the winter when I really appreciated the sun and heat. I loved it. The sun, the beaches, the aqua green water, the beer, the lack of clothing required to be comfortable

........

Have a good time G2.

P.J.

Nope, but I work for Emhart Powers, which makes equipment that inspects glass containers. The trip is one for training and to see what is wrong with the equipment in that plant.

Kodiak PA, we used to pull into Roads also, but that was a long time ago and is on the other side of where I'll be, I guess it's near San Juan. Leaving early Tuesday morning and returning Saturday. Take care everybody!

Hey Gary, have a good trip. Say, maybe you can pick up some exotic sheath material while you are there

Hey G2,
Have a good trip. I guess this will be a opportunity to see how those airline security personnel treat a William Henry!

That one's so nice they might decide it is illegal enough for them to take it home. There should be some great food down there. I used to eat at this Puerto Rican grocery/deli in Lexington all the time and the food was great. Take care.

Have a nice trip, Gary!

P.S.: Did you receive the pictures I sent you last week?

Good luck Gary.

I was down there just last year (July/August). One thing I have to say, be CAREFUL driving down there. They don't exactly have "enforced" rules, more like "suggestions" for the drivers.

Security shouldn't be a problem if you stay out of the "questionable" areas.

If you get a chance, try to hit Old San Juan.

Thanks guys, I'll see if a lizard sneaks in to the place I'm staying and grab it and take it home? never know....

Ivan, no I didn't get any photo's please resend them.

Got a 6am flight out Tuesday, and I live about 1 1/2 hours away from the airport, early morning for the G2!

Well, lucky me, I made it back in one piece, took a wrong turn on a road home one night and ended up on a mountain trail with Tractor Trailers coming at me, the road was very very narrow, crazy place. An MAN was it HOT and MUGGY down there! Glad to be back, food was great and the people were very nice. Picked up some Spanish while teaching some of the folks there, but not enough to be fluent, that's for sure. Great to be back though!
