After all the warnings about buying Queen blades with terrible edges.
I found that a few passes on an Extra-fine DMT brought them up to sharp.

But I changed my mind!

I used a DMT Aligner Kit to rebevel the blade on my utility knife at less than 20 deg.
The Kit give excellent result of a very good bevel.
I worked from Course, Fine to Extra fine
The blade is now able to whittle hair!
Like fuz sticks but on a strand of beard hair!!
Sharp?

So off I went and rebeveled all my Queen blades.
A good couple of hours work!!!

So a factory edge might be ok.
But a rebeveled edge on the D2 blade is well worth it.

It's a lot of fun, too, isn't it? :D

I'm beginning to get the impression that most of these guided set-ups do good work. Was there any particular factor that led you to get the DMT Aligner?

It was actually good fun!
After I risked the first knife to see it it would work, the next 5 were easy!
The set up is easy and all you do is gently file away at the blades, remembering to let the diamonds do the work!

When ever I asked here and on Tinkering everybody said sharpen with diamonds.

I have had an Extra fine DMT for years and so I continued with DMT.

It was being offered on ebay for less than 35, which was 3 'stones' and serattated edge file and the guide set up.
So the price was right.
Also it spoke about being able to rebevel.

And everyone says you cannot rebevel on Sharpmaker.

So...

And for rebeveling 5 multi-bladed slippies in D2, the results are easy, constant, and excellent.

Sounds good. It is much cheaper than pther systems. And it's nice that it hadnles small knives so well.

I like the Sharpmaker, but I've also been doing more freehand sharpening lately. Most of my tools are DMT and Spyderco.

Good to see you have had good results with the DMT guided system...
I have been looking at that system and the edge pro...
Edge pro looks like a very nice system but I don't know if it would be worth the extra $ (for my needs)

It is harder to work with on the very small blades of the small stockman.
But it works.

The improvement on the Queen as a knife is just wonderful....

I had the same issue with a queen that I had. but I found this doohickey at a yardsale and decided to give it a try. It's an electric grinder from sears and is made just for sharpening blades. It looked a little tricky but I practiced a bit on some junky kitchen knives, even so I put some light scratches out near the tip of this queen. It did put a real smooth and scary sharp edge on her though. I tried to get some pics of it to show here but I'm not much of a photograper.
I don't know if this particular item is still available from sears. mine was $5 at a yardsale so I couldnt resist. I figured even if I dont use it on my knives it should work great for the lawn mower blade!

I've had to rebevel a few Queens also. I like the DMT diamond hones but prefer to use them with the Lansky aluminum clamp. The DMT plastic clamp is a bit cumbersome and I don't think it holds as securely as a metal clamp. Once rebeveled they only need to be touched up occasionally on the Sharpmaker.
