Question about Colt CT19 Throwing Knife

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this stuff and I have a quick question for anyone who is familiar with the Colt CT19 type throwing knives. I'd like to know about the material on the handle. I was told it's rubber. Is it soft or hard rubber? I'm looking to remove the entire black handle, but I'd like to know if this is possible before I order. Would this be possible and/or reasonably easy to do without damaging the blade?

This is the knife I'm talking about:

To make a long story short, the shape of the blade is perfect for the project I'm working on, but I'd need to make a new handle. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Taking off the handle might make the handle area lighter than the manufacturer's intention and shifting the centre of gravity a bit. Depends on the weight of the handle. I personally don't own that fine looking pair

That's okay; it wouldn't be a problem for my particular project. The end product is going to be more decorative/theatrical than practical; in fact, I will probably also try to dull the blade a bit for safety reasons.

I suspect that if I just put the blade end in a clamp and go at the handle with a small saw and some patience, I should be able to get the handle off eventually.

ouch.... Its worth a try but no gurentees (yea my spelling sucks)

I looked closely at the pic you posted and it seems like two plastic pieces sandwiching the blade... I might be wrong. You could always call up the manufacturer for confirmation

I've got one of those. The handle is made of rubber. So it could be cut off- although I don't know what the tang looks like underneath.
