Question about new MOD Ladyhawk

Just got my MOD Ladyhawk in the mail. First off, it is beatutifl and feels really solid and locks up well. I am impressed how thick the blade and liner are. However I have a couple questions. DO these knives come lubed? I ask because it seems really stiff upon opening. Does it need to be lubed or just worked? Finally the only things in the box were the knife and small warranty and maintnance card. It looks like there is a place in the foam for something else, but this is empty. Is my box missing something or is there just usually and empty cut out in the foam? Thanks for any and all help.

MOD Ladyhawk is an incredibly well made knife. I love the liner lock, thick blade, and the tight tolerances. Too bad I DESPISED the way mine fit my hand. (extra large forepaws VS. extra small handle)

To answer your questions to the best of my ability:

The knife is not intended to include any kind of box or sheath. It is a "clip only" knife according to MOD. Why in the heck they put that hole in the foam seems to be the million dollar question. Thus far though, it is said to serve no purpose.

Secondly is just about all MOD knives are tight- really, really, really tight out of the box. you gotta work 'em a week or so until you start getting some smoothening effect for the darn thing. Wish I could say I knew all this of my own experience, or by rubbin' my own two braincells together real fast like, but that's not quite the case. My own Ladyhawk is an auto, and I got my CQD Mk2 used. :D

Thanks, boss,I saw that thread before and figured it was probably the case. I was more concerned about the empty hole in the foam. I love the knife. Having hands that I would judge to be on the small side of average it is great. With my index in the finger groove the rest of my hand fits the handle nicely with my pinkie wrapped around the very bottom of the handle. It is great for sabre or reverse hammer grip. Blade came hair popping sharp, even sharper than my BM 910 HS. Clip was a little too tight, but I loosened it a bit by bending it. Now it is great. After working it all night it is already feeling smoother. Not as smooth as my edc BM, but not sticky or jerky like when I opened it the first time. I can open it quickly and smoothly with one hand now. Thanks for the help with my question. Jeez, looking at this post maybe I should have put it under the knife reviews and testing forum.

The Lady Hawk my wife has came from the factory with an overlly tight pivot. Too tight for my wife to operate the knife one handed. Too tight to "wear in". You can't adjust it since it is Locktited and there is no way to get a hold on the opposite end of the pivot pin with scratching it. I sent it back to MOD and it was returned in 3 days with a perfectly set up pivot action for one hand opening. Their customer service is great.
