Question About Spa Treatment

Awhile ago I wrote about an early 119 I found and was advised to send it in for a spa treatment. I was all ready to send it in but I wanted to send another knife at the same time and it turned up missing. Tonight I found the lost knife and am ready to send them in.

Now my question, what do I say I want done? I've included a photo.

Thanks,

Chad

Chad, Could you flip your 119 0ver and post another picture of its stamping. Thanks, DM
They will know what to do just by saying polish and buff the scrathes off boys.

Here's a picture of the handle. Can they do anything about how it looks?

Also why does it just say Buck and not

Buck
119
USA

It say's Buck only because it is one of the early models, made before 1968 I beleive. These older ones are highly collectable. But if you would like to trade it for a nice shiny new one with Buck 119 USA I would be happy to oblige you along with quite a few others on this forum. LOL

Chad:

your knife is one of the few that we can actually put a fairly close date on. You will note that the BUCK stamp has a small dot following BUCK. Although there might be a little slop over, that indicates that the knife was most likely made in 1967. 1966 knives didn't have that dot and 1968 knives had BUCK USA.

Can't really tell how deep the scarring is on the handle so it is a little hard to say that a spa treatment will eliminate all the imperfections but I do know that BUCK can do wonders with old battered knives.

BUCK 119 USA did not appear until 1972.

Telechronos:):):)

Just tell them to do their usual and you'll get back a knife that looks so different you'll be amazed.

No, every imperfection will not be entirely removed, but that old knife will look beautiful.

Chad, I agree with Tele's assessment. I have one stamped like yours, sent it in and they did wonders on it and the price wasn't excessive either. By the way the sheath you show in your nice photos (thanks) is not the correct sheath for that models time frame. :( Still, a very good find on a rare knife. DM

most all other brands of knives i know of-
if any restoration or reconditioning is done to them
that they loose a lot of value and collectability...

it is my thought and belife that
Buck is the only knife that can/will increase in value
if sent in to be reconditioned / restored

Chad,,send it Attention Joe Houser.
Make sure you say in the note that you want it reconditioned and not replaced.

You will be surprised at how it comes back. Post pics then please!

110 Dave, thanks I was going to ask that question next.

Pack Rat, thanks for the shipping advice.
