I have some questions on the SnG Strider Knives Framelock Folder.
I have seen some really great deals on these latley and am thinking of buying one to go with me Strider GB folder (which I love and will never part with!)

Questions on the SnG for any SnG owners who can answer...

1. what type of bearing/washer is there between the G-10 and the knife blade. Is it washers like the GB?
What does the blade pivot on?

2. How light is it? Being G-10 and Ti frame only I assume very light?

3. I am getting the spear point version but if anyone has the tanto I am interested in how if performs?

4. How does the G-10 hold up? Any wearing from blade pivot? Opening and closing does this cause the G-10 to wear?

Thanks for the info!

There have been some killer deals on GB's and SnG's out there since the AR/GB TAC editions came out.

I'll do my best to answer your questions:

From what I can see there is a washer or bushing of some sort on each side of the blade. Blade pivots on a a large torx head screw. Bushings look to be copper.

It's very light. I was surprised the first time I picked it up. Yet at the same time, the balance point is exactly at the finger groove. Can't feel it when I'm carrying it.

I have the tanto. Didn't think I'd like it at first, but now that I've used it a while I like it a lot. People say the tanto edge is not sharp, but that's not true. It's just not as sharp as the main grind. Can still cut open tape, envelopes, etc. no problem.

I think the bushing eliminate any wear on the G10 from opening and closing of the knife. Seems to be holding up great.

Overall, a great knife, if a little overpriced. If you can get a good deal on it, go for it. I carry it exclusively when I can't carry my fixed blade. Very strong lock, and great handle ergonomics.

I have the 2nd gen stonewashed finish and prefer it over the tiger stripe. Doesn't show wear, and it's not as threatening when I use the knife in public.

Just one design flaw that's not a big deal, but really irks me. The handle has a lanyard hole. Only problem is on the tanto models (don't know about the spear points) the blade neatly bisects the hole! So with a lanyard tied on the knife, the closed blade actually presses into the lanyard. For the price I really can't excuse it.

Super sharp and I love the finger choil.

It's the only folder I carry.

Thanks Cheif!

I love my GB Folder and have been beating the hell out of it I just want the second Strider for when I am around sheeple and not at work. Keeping the GB for the REALLY tough jobs.
I have a pending deal going now for a Tanto Tiger version model 1 SnG for $325.00 how does that sound as far as deals. Little use, carried never cut anything factory edge. But if it is used I can always take advantage of the Super Strider Warranty :0

Thanks for the input I like that GB tanto so maybe the SnG tanto will be a great match. I actually like tha fact that the tip is not as sharp as I can score wood for cutting, break tiles and do many other things with that tanto tip that a spear point would balk at.

I was leaning toward the tanto, I have been seeing more SnG's going around $300 to $350 good deals I think.

I have edc'd mine since I got it in November?. I have a spearpoint and use it regularly. The G10/ti. combo makes for a "warm" and extremely secure hold. The G10 has not worn or changed or shifted or cracked or faded or anything.the knife is very rigid. It has a rock solid lock up.
The bearings( washers) are phosphor bronze so that salt water will not chew them up. I used my SnG to thr point where it stopped scraping hair, then touched it up on the white flats of a Spydie Sharpmaker...about 20 licks per side, then stropped it on paper. the edge is fricking unbelievable. That s30v is awesome. My lanyard passes thru both sides. It took a while to break in, but now that it has , I will not be without it. The next version is a rough G10 like the AR/GB...TAD is accepting preorders, as is Matt D.....I have one of those on order. This is a very capable and useful framelock.

If you can buy a newish SnG at anything under $350, do it. SnG's, in fact, most Strider folders tend to hold their values pretty well, and honestly, i havent seen too many SnG's as low as youre seeing them. I often was seeing unused/mint first run tiger striped SnGs getting MORE than their original $400 list prices, with regard to the newer SW versions, the SP's were usually getting $375+, tantos a little less at $350+. So, at $325, buy that knife! At any point down the road, youll EASILY get your $ back, if not more, like for example when you decide to buy yourself a REALLY well made knife like an Obenauf. :). Seriously though, at $325, even if used, you cant lose.

Here's one of the last of my 2 SnG's, had 2 others, including a first run SP, but saw something i wanted more, you know how that goes im sure...
