Hey Thomas, can you (or Dave or OE or anyone else) give me any info on a Kershaw Boa, Model # 1580MC, BOD of Oct '02, and CPM440V blade steel (now referred to as S60V, I think...)? How many were made? Was it a special run for a customer? Who came up with the blue/black/purple handle colors? Why the use of CPM440V steel? Do you know the Rc #? Questions like that....Looking for some history...

Thanks!

I want to say I heard that was the first Boa. And that you have one from the first runs....

I might be wrong though.....

Thanks for the info. I just picked this one up. NIB, papers, never carried or sharpened, it's 100% mint.

I was hoping to get some of the pertinent history, like production dates and number produced. I'll get some better pics up later!

As already pointed out, 440V (basically S60V) was the original steel the Boas were done in as opposed to the current S30V.

The MC in the model name stands for multi-color(ed), plus I know from trying to find one myself that they're hard to find. Every time I do find one it's ended up more than I've been willing to spend (at least so far). :D

Great score! That one's just beautiful...looks brand new!

Ray :)

The 1580MC Boa was regular production from late 2001 thru 2003 and the 1580MCST was around for 1 year (2002). As far as total pieces the 1580MC tallied 394, and the 1580MCST 311.

They were discontinued for lack of sales.

Thank you Thomas! I think I'll keep this 5 1/2 year old brand new puppy in the safe.

Thanks again!
