I Just found this site but I have been collecting Microtechs and CRs for several years. My question is about the Tanto NICA 400 I just bought. It does not seem to be sharp when compared to my other Sebenzas. My two other large Sebenzas and my LDC9 will all shave hair, but this one will not. I tried it with another tanto and got the same result. They just dont seem to be as sharp. I know it doesnt matter since its still sharp enough to use, but does anyone have any idea as to why this is? Is it because of the different blade shape?

It wasn't a used knife was it? Other than that, I really don't have an answer!

P.S. By the way, WELCOME to BladeForums.com! This place becomes very addicting you know

I have a NICA tanto also and agree that it is not as sharp as your standard Sebenza. However, I think it was made for a collectors piece rather that a daily carry. Chris's customer service is exellent and if you contact him, I would bet my (Dare I say?)
small Seb that he will sharpen your tanto to your complete satisfaction

My NICA was razor sharp and seemed as sharp (if not sharper)) than my LDC. This might be subjective though.

I've tried many types of sharpening devices including the Syderco. For some reason I can't get a good edge. The Chris Reeve Shop has the machinery and experience to do the job well. Plus part of the benefit of buying an expensive knife is great customer service. The tanto isn't my daily carry. I carry an Elishewitz hand made Striker with Damascus blade and carbon fiber scales. Beautiful knife, excellent fit and finish and it comes with a balistic cordora sheath. Nice thing about the sheath is that it doesn't shout I GOT I KNIFE when I wear it and IMHO it's a faster deploy than pulling it out of my pocket.
