I read in another forum that the RAT-7 D2 was originally made by Ontario with a poor heat treating process that left the blade more brittle than it should be.

I have a RAT-7 and the blade has held up well but I did get a small chip in it that I had to sharpen out.

Could someone please elaborate on the heat treating issue and when it was corrected. I know the RAT-7 is made by Ontario, not RAT Cutlery, but I think you guys are in the know.

Due to current circumstances, that question should be directed to the manufacturer.

I read the thread about Ontario vs. RAT Cutlery and now I understand. I will post my question in the general threads area so as not to stir things up with you guys.

Best of luck, I think you guys design great knives and Ontario should be eternally grateful for the huge boost your designs have given there company.
