Question on Sharpening Enhanced D2

Let me start by saying that I am very pleased with my Pikuni.

I Reprofiled the edge to 30 degrees using my Spyderco Sharpmaker 204. At this thin angle the edge seemed to roll when I cut Cardboard and other similar materials.

I then did about 10-15 strokes per side at 40 degrees on the 204 and eliminated this tendency while maintaining a hair popping edge.

Is this expected behavior?
Did I do something wrong on the original sharpening to 30 degrees that left a wire edge?

This is my first D2 blade and it behaves differently than my ATS-34 blades so I am curious.

I think you are right about the wire edge. A good thing to do after reprofiling to that steep of an angle is give the edge a couple light swipes at an increased angle to take the burr off, then strop it out....

Just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that I got the Wire Edge off and the result is: WOW!!!!

This knife will easily pass the Sharpness test that Sal Glesser used in the Spyderco 204 video of slicing layers off of a sheet of paper without going all the way through.
