Ok, I recently purchased some 5 inch hibben thrower, 3 1/4 inch blades. I've been browsing alot of sites and heard that proffessional knives are much easier for adults because of the weight and the way they release. Im having alot of trouble with small knives. I just ordered some 9 inch long colt throwers, 5 inch blades. Anyone use Colts at all?

Some do use colts but the heavier and larger the knife the easier it is to consistently throw them. The weight helps the knife fly straight and not be affected by the wind passing over it as it glides to the target. And they are easier to throw longer distances. I'd be looking for 12" or larger if you are serious about throwing.

I could be mistaken, 12'' as in blade length? Btw, I seriously want to get into knife throwing, any brands in particular you'd suggest? I've browsed quiet a few brands, I'm mainly looking for anything durable and heavy. I haven't gotten my Colts shipped in to me yet, hopefully things will go more smoothly once I work with larger knives. I'd like to try some Dragons, but I believe they're no longer produced, a few sites that still have some in inventory charge $65.00+ for em (1 knife) so I'm looking for something a little less.

Where have you found dragons? I have two myself and love them. I paid much less however a year ago ($30??) not certain. A lot of people may suggest making your own throwers if you have access to a benchgrinder or else getting old saw blades and having them laser cut. Another option is Cold Steel Pro Throwers 14" and you can find them on Ebay for around $5-8 bucks and they are great for the price. If you goto www.throwzini.com you can find a lot of info about custom makers that will get you a nice custom knife for less than $65 probably. As far as 12", I was speaking in terms of entire knife length. Remember, most throwers that are center balanced will not have a sharpened blade portion, so you can throw from either end with out slicing your hand!!

Mike

Let me know about the websites that still have Dragons though, PLEASE!

Those are probably nice knifes but I'm looking for the Dragon series he mentioned. Evidently some sites still have stock of them, which is hard to believe but if so I would like to know what sites.
