He was interviewed in on of the knife magazines. The author asked him what kind of lock he liked on his folders. He responded that he didn't need a lock because he knew which side of the knife folded. Thought you traditionalists would get a kick out of that

He's a paid spokesman for SOG, so I suppose he won't say much about KABars.

Old Ermey has got a line for everything. He has a quick wit about him. I met him and Gaston Glock at the Glock shot show booth a few years ago. Seemed pretty down to earth to me. Spoke like he knew me for years. He was kind to me and my son. I better get out my copy of Full Metal Jacket and give it a watch!

I can appreciate "he didn't need a lock because he knew which side of the knife folded"!

"There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion."
Gen. William Thornson, U.S. Army

Not knife related, but a cool "Gunny" story...

A few years back the History Channel booked our facility to shoot a Veteran's Day promo with R. Lee Ermey. I was running teleprompter for the shoot.

The producer and writer show up early, and I load the script into the prompter.

Gunny shows up...goes to makeup, then he's ready to rehearse...

Gunny: "A teleprompter! Well, you must think that I'm hot sh*t or something!...
Alright, let's see what you want me to say...

He reads the script

Gunny: "Who in the hell writes this crap!" (funny thing, the writer was in the room)
He finishes reading...

Gunny: "Hell, I don't need no script, I know what I have to say...roll tape!"

A great guy to work with, very professional, and fun to be around. No pretenses there, what you see on the big or small screen is R. Lee off-screen as well!

I like anything with Lee Ermy in it, especially on the History Channel! I could see him carrying a SAK or stockman on him.

He mentioned a small SAK.

The article is in the latest Blade magazine..
