hi all,
my good friend Kim of RAIDOPS sent me a new knife. it is a varient of a new knife he is making called the Soldier Spirit 08BL. the regular Soldier Spirits are made of S30V, but Kim was nice enough to make this one in M2 tool steel at my request. i just had a hankering for a fixed blade in M2... don't know why.
anyhoo, Kim did a great job with mine and here are some specs:
OAL: 10.2"
Blade length: 5.7"
Blade material: 1/4" M2
HRC: 62
Handle: G10
the blade has a nice hollow grind and the edge is very sharp with lots of belly. Kim's distinctive 'carved' style is also evident on this knife. the G10 handles are nicely contoured and fit my hand like a glove! i asked Kim not to put as many 'thumb ramp' notches on the top of the spine, and i think it turned out nice and clean in execution. on the underside of the handle, Kim has grooved the steel and G10 for additional grip. it came with an excellent kydex sheath. although the Soldier Spirit is a beefy knife, it feels light in the hand and doesn't feel as big as it is.
