So today I had some epic plans to go out in the woods and do some reviews of the bk15, and the new sheath I got from clich, and other stuff but I totally epic failed.Got some cell phone pics for yall though. The sun was shining when I drove off, and it was a little cloudy when I got to my destination. And once I got all settled in, it poured and hailed on me. Sigh... So I took pics of what I could, but most of my time was spent babying my fire, I got it started easy but everything was so very wet that it took a long time to get it going properly. anywho, still good times, figured I'd share with my becker bros.

These are the bags I had with me. The black one is my day hike/one nighter bag, and I just got a new sheath to attach to it from clich for my BK10. I love the sheath very much! This bag is what I keep in my car inside a rubbermaid with a complete change of clothes, gaiters, tarps stuff like that. My EDC bag is now that grey one, which can be a messenger or a back pack. It's a little less "tactical" intentionally. The stuff inside of it is meant to be a survival pack if necessary, but is much more complimented with the gear inside the black one, if I had to bail from wherever I was at, I sure hope I have access to my jeep, but just in case, this one is good to go. I also have that silly bag with the monkeys on it, that was my lunch pack with the meat and cutting board and such for the fire.

It's hard to take pictures of myself doing stuff when I'm alone in the woods but I did try to get some sorta action shots.

I had fun making curls with the 15

firemakin stuff. everything was soaked, I kept that moss in my pocket as I was gathering stuff so it could dry, and I brought a small piece of pitchwood, thank goodness, it saved me.

I really had to babysit the fire, it took almost an hour to get really going at all, because I had to try and stack it high and dry the sticks before they'd burn. So I had some cucumbers in the meantime. oh my that 15 slices so lovely!

yep, thats me.

I was going to take a bunch of pictures of me cutting delicious meat but it was raining by this point pretty hard so I just cut a few small pieces off to eat real quick and put the rest back in my bag. The 15 performed well again, I promise.

One of the most pathetic cooking fires i've ever made, but it did the job.

Cool post Cap'n. Is that a backpacking grill? Perhaps a Coghlans? And I see you got a new black Wave. That thing goes with me where ever I go. Love it.

Oooh, black wave. I wants one. Still haven't replaced mine, which got stolen nearly 10 years ago.

Looks like a good trip. I need to go on more hikes like yours. Also, nice sheath!

It's a backpacking grill I got at cabelas, I can't remember the brand I'll look next time I'm there. My mom has had the same one for years and she loves it so I got one for myself. And yes, it's a Wave! I have to say I haven't even done anything with it and I like it! It's a little stiff to open, should it be that way?

Man that 15 looks handy. Sorry to hear the weather went foul on you. Great stuff otherwise.

That looks awesome Airyca! Living in the PNW, it's tough to find a strip of weather nice enough and long enough to really dry anything out completely. You did better than I did the last time I tried to start a fire in the rain lol. Looks like an awesome day and your gear setup is pretty wicked. I'm all about my SHTF kits lol.

better stiff when new than loose at the start :)

wait. mmm. yes, that's right.

Mine was a little stiff. I cleaned that shipping stuff they put on the blade, and oiled it up. Works great now. I also bought a new sheath for mine. Didn't need the molle sheath that came with it. Here's my set up:

Did you clean it with any thing special or use an particular oil? I like your set up very much!

Just a little tip! fits perfect on the 16 sheath.

it's already at home in my 15 sheath for now :)

Even though I"m really fire shy (terrified of making fires in front of people) I can start a fire pretty well. I am slowly working on perfecting my gear, I WAS going to do a review of it, going to wait till later.

Who the heck brings a whole cucumber into the woods with them? Now the steak, I can vouch for.

I think I used 3 in 1 oil Cap'n, don't remember now. Either that, or whatever the hell I have in the oil can I use about once a year. :D

I need a monkey pack. and a 15. then I could mount my 15 TO my monkey pack.

That looked like a great outing, and yes, it is a PITA to build a fire in wet conditions. So any fire that works...counts as a ''good'' fire!

Good "me time" cap'n....looks like the rain didnt getcha down...i may be convinced now to buy the 15.... Like now.

That campout looked like the perfect example of Pat MacManus' concept of camping being a fine and pleasant misery. I'm jealous, although those pics reminded me of why I'm so glad I don't live in the Cascades anymore. I'm just not a rain kind of guy.

Great pics, Captain. I like that new setup with your 10. Looks handy.

You can look purty even in the rain. Your phone must have a waaaaay better camera than my POS phone!
Cheers

The lady is a bonafide photographer, if I recall correctly. Got some real skills at it too. Also has had some interesting subject material.
