So today I had some epic plans to go out in the woods and do some reviews of the bk15, and the new sheath I got from clich, and other stuff but I totally epic failed.Got some cell phone pics for yall though. The sun was shining when I drove off, and it was a little cloudy when I got to my destination. And once I got all settled in, it poured and hailed on me. Sigh... So I took pics of what I could, but most of my time was spent babying my fire, I got it started easy but everything was so very wet that it took a long time to get it going properly. anywho, still good times, figured I'd share with my becker bros.
These are the bags I had with me. The black one is my day hike/one nighter bag, and I just got a new sheath to attach to it from clich for my BK10. I love the sheath very much! This bag is what I keep in my car inside a rubbermaid with a complete change of clothes, gaiters, tarps stuff like that. My EDC bag is now that grey one, which can be a messenger or a back pack. It's a little less "tactical" intentionally. The stuff inside of it is meant to be a survival pack if necessary, but is much more complimented with the gear inside the black one, if I had to bail from wherever I was at, I sure hope I have access to my jeep, but just in case, this one is good to go. I also have that silly bag with the monkeys on it, that was my lunch pack with the meat and cutting board and such for the fire.
It's hard to take pictures of myself doing stuff when I'm alone in the woods but I did try to get some sorta action shots.
I had fun making curls with the 15
firemakin stuff. everything was soaked, I kept that moss in my pocket as I was gathering stuff so it could dry, and I brought a small piece of pitchwood, thank goodness, it saved me.
I really had to babysit the fire, it took almost an hour to get really going at all, because I had to try and stack it high and dry the sticks before they'd burn. So I had some cucumbers in the meantime. oh my that 15 slices so lovely!
yep, thats me.
I was going to take a bunch of pictures of me cutting delicious meat but it was raining by this point pretty hard so I just cut a few small pieces off to eat real quick and put the rest back in my bag. The 15 performed well again, I promise.
One of the most pathetic cooking fires i've ever made, but it did the job.
nom nom
rain....
Sitting on the porch when I got home was a present I had gotten for myself though!!
awwww yeah!!
and, clich, thank you for the cool stuff you sent me for that contest. I am using the green pouch for a fire kit gonna keep it in my glovebox me thinks.
and the 10 sheath! so handy!
