Greetings folks. How do the off shore folders differ from the USA made ones? Just picked up a USA made off ebay for dirt cheap. G10, 3.5" blade, 2 position clip I think but could be wrong on that one. This just may be my hunter folder this year bowhunting. Back up to my master hunter. Anyways info is good. keepem sharp

RAT has never made, designed or had our name attached to any folder made in the USA.

It is an Ontario RAT1, made in NY, sorry. thought if it said RAT then a RAT it is. keepem sharp

If it's a RAT Model 1 folder then it's made in Taiwan, not NY.

I just tried to check on this, and the Ontario site is down. They came out with a Rat 5 d-2, so it would not surprise me if they remade the model one design aswell.

wasn't the first run of RAT model 1 folders made it usa then they switched production to asian countries?

We had some made by Blade-Tech before we ever joined up with Ontario but these were never marketed and they didn't carry the Model 1 name.

Was the Railsplitter an agreement between RAT and Ontario or something Ontario did without permission?

Those are Queen knives. I guess I should re-phrase my statement to say "Tactical Folders" since I don't even think of traditional folders in the same league as tactical with pocket clips.

I have a First Production Run Rat 1 and it is made in Taiwan. I like it a lot and EDC it in rotation with my Sebbie.
