Time to start some shit here for the RAT Team. There has been so much talk on the W&SS Forum lately about which RC would be better suited for backpacking. How many would like to see an RC-3/Izula type of knife that is lightweight and without a choil or coating? Kind of an all around lightweight sportsman/outdoors knife?

I'm on board for this one, although with how busy the RAT guys are we'll probably all be dead when they get time to make it. I'm sure it would be an excellent knife.

Hey Bear, you think we could get it in 0-1?
This is a, wouldn't it be nice to have, kind of thread. Now if Texastony would request it, maybe it will happen!
You mean a bigger Izula? That could work.

A 3 1/2-inch blade and cutting edge would be good. I have always been a 4-inch blade type of guy but after extended use of the RC-3 which has only a 3 3/8-inch cuttting edge, I think a solid 3 1/2-inch blade would rock! There really isn't anything you can't do with the RC-3 though!

I have realy warmed alot to the capability of sub 4" knives. I still love a good Zombie killer, but a satin finish 3.5" blade with a full size handle makes the perfect pack knife. sounds great!

I'm always looking for an excuse for more knives, but I don't see the point.

An RC3 or 4 will do everything you speak of. What exactly could be 'upgraded' to make this a 'backpackers' knife?

For a production blade, I believe there is no better than the RC4. I no longer carry mine only because I like to be different, and have a custom JK knife. I did donate my RC4 to someone in need, and they are using it extensively.

TFin04,
You just mentioned my favorite knives in one post. RAT and JK really make good stuff. As far as your question, "What exactly could be 'upgraded' to make this a 'backpackers' knife"?

I got a fever, and the only perscription is more knives!

That's the only explanation I need. :D

Wouldn't it be nice to have a RAT axe or a machete.. :D hmmm I must be dreaming..

It would be interesting to see a choiless RAT... very interesting.....

btw, does anyone know what exactly is "DPX Gear H.E.S.T" is?

Someone emailed me about the next jungle training class and I erased it while trying to save it. PM me whoever you are.

Dude that was a long PM I sent you:cool: Just use this thread then. Been wanting to know if you went to the school and how was it? I might go this year. I have the money and time and everything it's just that I have been making plans and surviving a week in a Peruvian Jungle wasn't one of them. But it sounds like fun:D. Also if you went to a survival school in CA let me know. I know there are some good survival schools in CA but I would like to hear what you think. Also if you went to Peru how long was your trip and what did you do? It seems like a waste to go there just for a week and then fly back. You must have done more while you were there or at least fly/train to another South American country for some more fun.
