My RC3 gave up the ghost:( Tip is gone. Where can I find the warranty info on the RAT site?

I think you have just done what you need to...as soon as Jeff logs in, I'll bet he breaths new life into that rat. :D

Our warranty sucks, so here's what we will do:

No need to send the knife back with just a broken tip. We would like to see a photo and let us know how it happened. Feel free to post that publicly since we like for all of our customers to know what happened. Drop me an email with your shipping address and the type knife you had (plain edge, serrated, etc.) and we will get a new one headed your way.

As for the broken tip knife, keep it as a backup beater knife.

Sorry for your troubles but stuff happens ;)

Jeff

Wow, I have read your warranty many times but it still amazes me. My hat is off to you sir.

And in case anyone is still wondering, that is one of the big reasons to pay the premium for a RC knife.

Wow... Jeff you guys are awesome. ive never seen a warranty like this. you guys stand by your products like no other. I love my RC-4 and love the service you and RAT Cutlery give. I have no need to shop else where with a warranty like this. Bravo Bravo.

P.S. sorry about your knife dude but sounds like one is on it way.

Again, we just have this firm belief that 99 percent of the buying public are down-to-earth honest folks like ourselves. So, when shit happens and something breaks then we want our customers to know that we stand behind them so they don't have to worry about their investment. No gimmicks and no hassles when it comes to our warranty. Why should a person who buys a knife from us, then breaks it (for whatever reason) have to pay shipping on something just so they can get their product repaired? While this seems to be the norm for most companies (customer pays shipping for warranty work) we think it's bullshit and simply a way to keep people from using the warranty in many cases. The bottom line is nearly every company out there does not trust their customers to tell them the truth. If I put my hard earned money out for a product and it fails, I expect the company to cover whatever costs there are to make it right.

With all that said, we do like to know how a knife failed and see pics of it, or in some cases, have the customer return the knife (and we pay the shipping).

As soon as I saw the link from Grump I emailed RAT and in minutes had the same response Jeff posted above emailed to me:)

Musr say that's some sweet service and I will post pics this evening.

Thanks Jeff

Don't forget to email me a shipping address so we can get a new knife headed your way.

Jeff

Jeff, my brand new RC-4 has also failed. It has failed to keep me from wanting more RAT knives! Does that fall under the warranty and get a free knife shipped my way? If so, I'll gladly take pictures. ;)

I'm not so sure how your warranty sucks.... but.....I think that is outstanding!!!

I'm about to purchase an RC3 or RC4 and have been lurking here for a while.

What good folks.

jeff, My Brand New Rc-4 Has Also Failed. It Has Failed To Keep Me From Wanting More Rat Knives! Does That Fall Under The Warranty And Get A Free Knife Shipped My Way? If So, I'll Gladly Take Pictures. ;)
lmfao!!!

Ok I definitely beat this knife to death, and it took more abuse than any knife I've owned. The finish wore thin in a few spots so I stripped it awhile back and beat it up some more. I snapped the tip using it to open a valve box which no knife "should" be used for but like I said this RAT RC3 seemed like it asks for it. It opened a few over the time I owned it before snapping. Rat makes a great work/field knife with an unbeatable warranty.

So, looks to be a standard RC-3 plain edge to me. Email me your shipping address and we'll have Shon get another knife headed your way. Thanks for the pics and the explanation. Treat the next one gently :D
