Well last night the edge of my RC-4 finally met it match. It came in the part of three wild hogs off Fort Stewart. I had previoulsy skinned 2 deer with the RC-4 on factory edge and it was still hair poping sharp afterwards, so all i did was a quick strop on the cermic rod. However after three hogs it was more like a 10 winchester knife you get at the wal-mart. I find the RC-4 a little big for the skinning process so I am looking foward to the release of the Izula. I think it will be a better skinning knife for those hard to reach places like cutting the windpipe when field dressing animals. Either way the Rat did the job even if that last bit of the third hog was a bit of a hack job. I dont have any pics of the skinning process as it was dark but i got a pic of my two pigs Ill post up later.

Appreciate the post and glad it worked out for you, even if you did have to hack through that last hog :D

I just got done resharping the RC-4 and mad was that easy. Less than 10 mins and hair poping sharp again. Its amazing how well it hold and edge and yet super easy to sharpen. Great knife looking foward to grabbing the izula and either a RC-sere or RC-6 to be completly covered.

What'd you sharpen it with?

Just hit it on the lanskey stones a couple of times then a quick stop on the leather and all done nice and sharp.

Here are a couple of pics. We have a little pig contest between the guys at work so that hopefully explains the little pig.

Mmmm, pork! Yeah, skinning hogs is hard on just about any edge. Those look like some good sized hogs for a barbeque. Good hunting.
