Lockbar side, only when it's open. LBS isn't loose.
Is this common? I guess it could be the torsion bar rattling a little, but I've never heard it on any other Kershaw a/o knives.

Sure sounds like a torsion bar to me. If it bothers you just add a little more grease.

Yeah its the Torsion Bar.... they Rattle sometimes...doesn't effect anything but you could open it up and add some grease to keep it from moving..

Cool. Didn't feel broken or anything, just strange. What kind of grease? Got some CRK lube, would that work?

Any grease is ok..I've used bearing grease...or even Vaseline works if you got it on hand (yeah that sounds so wrong..)

I used a bearing grease also, a higher end synthetic, since its what I had on the shelf.

Anyone know of instructions on taking this beast apart and getting it back together without cussing up a storm?

It's one of the easiest knives to take apart especially since the pivot is a nut... Just Unscrew...take scale off.. Just some grease on the scale where there should be a little already and then put back together..

arskrg I use white lithium grease, i found it at a hardware store. As a matter of fact I just got my tube a week ago and this weekend went through all my assisted blades and it made em quiet.

Home Depot, here I come!

When disassembling, be sure to do it with the blade open in a neutral position (doesn't have to be locked) to relieve the tension from the torsion bar. You don't want the blade to go flying out unexpectedly while you're disassembling the knife. For added safety, you can also put tape over the blade edge.

Yeah, I discovered the definition of taking one for the team at BLADE show this year. I needed some grease to fix a few knives at the booth, so I had to walk into the shop in the hotel lobby and buy a little jar of Vaseline. The girl behind the counter didn't even blink, but I felt pretty awkward.

Back on topic, Vaseline works fine in a pinch. We use a clear, food safe grease in the factory.

jimmer, is this food safe grease something available to the public? Can you share the name of it?

Its available to the public.... You can find it at most hardware stores... Its got a big NSF label on it.. I use at work to put together the slicers and whatnot....

Haha awesome story Jimmer

Thanks for the tip, gentlemen. Took it apart and slathered some vaselene in there, no more rattle, and it even seems to fly open faster now!
