I have a plain blade Raven with the black titanium-nitride coated double V ground clip point ATS-34 blade and black Kydron handle material.
I ordered direct from Emerson, about April (I think) of this year and received it less than a week later, cost was $179 + $10 shipping. It has the Emerson logo and "97" imprinted on the blade - so i assume it's a 1997 manufacture.
It was "sort of" sharp when it arrived, not shaving sharp but certainly sharp enough for general utility. It has a secondary bevel on one side only, which i understand is typical of the Emerson V grinds. The lock required some breaking in (as expected) but locks up very tightly now.
Curiously, there is a distinct grindline on the right side of the blade perpendicular to the edge. This line is a small ridge that runs edge to spine and starts near where the edge begins its curve to the tip. While it doesn't impede function it looks (to me at least) like a grinding/finishing error.
The pocket clip widens and squares-up near its attachment point. This gives the clip some corners that tend to dig into the palm of my hand with heavy use.
My plans are to narrow the secondary bevel by sharpening both sides of the blade (when it finally needs sharpening. I'm also going to round-off the pocket-clip corners with my "dreaded Dremel" when I get a chance.
It's a robust little knife with good balance and a fat lock and I like the Kydron handle with its non-slip "Raven wing" pattern. Like the slotted screws as well - easy to maintain. Fits my needs well as a utility folder.
whoops, sorry, ...guess this turned into a mini-review
