I kid you not!

Made June 6, 2001 just before the Blade Show. A dealer by the name of Mark Stephens had it. If my memory is correct it was a large Sebenza Classic with sandblast finish. The ray skin was dark blue. Don't recall if the blade was polished or not.

I've got his 800 number if anyone wants to call him and talk with him about it.

I asked Chris later if he planned on making any more of these. His answer, "Hmmmmmmm . . . maybe."
Since this was the first Classic I had seen with an inlay I asked if there would be more Classics with any kinds of inlay. "Hmmmmmmm . . . maybe."

So I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Great show, as usual!

Interesting.

I like the woodies myself, but can see why some would like pearl, walrus, mammoth, and stag (when India frees it up again). Wood tends to warm up the whole "all metal" package nicely.

And why not damasteel in twist or ladder for the inlay? Or a big (expensive) hunk of mosaic damascus or even meteorite?

The machined-out pocket (interframe) of the Sebenza provides a reasonable way to protect such materials should you choose to carry and use such a knife.

Smooth Bone,
I also saw this one, and I believe your description is correct. I know it was a large. Didn't pick it up or ask to see it since I had just bought the large woody and was afraid I would end up buying the rayskin if I held it! Did look super though .

I wouldn't mind seeing some other inlays beside wood. I am partial to wood and like it, but would LOVE to see a large Sebenza with stag inlays!

Just a thought.

I was coming here to post about that knife, but you beat me to it!

I handled one at the Blade Show. I thought the stingray skin was black, but it could have been dark blue. It was a large Classic with the MM by the pivot. It had two pieces inlaid on the front side, and one on the locking side. The inlays were long and roughly 1cm wide with rounded ends. It was one of the lightest Sebenzas I've ever held. It was so light I actually looked at the inside of the handle to see if there was some milling on the inside too, but it was just from the stingray sections.

This knife was B-eautiful!! At first I thought it was an aftermarket modification til I saw the "birth certificate". One of the people at the CRK booth (I won't say who) said that they would like to make more, but the material is a little hard to work with since it can shrink etc.

I wish I had taken my camera!!!

Very NICE! Thanks for sharing that. Still.........I am just partial to stag, and would like to see one that looks as good as that one!

Classic Sebenza with an inlay....
Great, just another one I have to save up for.
Can the madness ever end?

I saw a rayskin handled Sebbie or two at the show myself. I think I've seen just about every material known to man inserted into a Sebbie handle except fly paper.
