Ok, first of all I apologise. You guys probably get asked this kind of thing every ten minutes, but on to my question. Whats the difference with the RC-3 and the RAT3? Is one of them to do with ontario? Which came first? You dont have to get into too much detail because from what I understand the whole RAT/ ontario thing is a long story. However to my knowledge, and to sum it up, I think RAT had a partnership with ontario then you guys split and started making knives by yourselves? correct? Well thanks in advance for any info and sorry again. I'm new, but interested in getting one of these blades and wanted to know the difference. Also I think the RAT3 is slightly cheaper, but again, could be wrong.

Jordan.

You've basically got it right.
RAT-series knives were made by Ontario in cooperation with the R.A.T. folks. Then the contract ran out, the poo hit the fan (you can read the 1,397 page thread on that).

The RC-series have much better fit an finish, and supposedly grinds. I only bought the RC-3 in OD/Orange so far, and don't have a RAT-3 to compare it to, but it's a beaut. I'm waiting for the RC-6 now, and can compare that (especially the grind) with the RAT-7 (which I do have).

To be totally accurate, I'm not sure what Ontario's warranty, delivery, retail pricing, or anything else is on the RAT-3 right now. Not trying to be a horse's butt , but it's best if Ontario questions are asked directly to Ontario.

At this stage we are operating solely under the advice of our attorney, so the easiest way to sum this up is this: RAT only guarantees and offers customer service on knives built by RAT Cutlery Company and does not guarantee or offer any customer service for knives that are manufactured by any other company, regardless of the misuse of our trademarks.

Well I read a bit of the thread about ont**io (just can't bring my self to use the word :D) trying to sue R.A.T and it does not impress me. I will in the future, get an RC-3. I am not going to buy any knife that funds ont**io. I am glad I asked about the difference, thanks again for the info. and i wish the best for the folks at R.A.T.
