Here's my RC-4 on a weekend trip to the North Georgia mountains. Great weather, did some hiking and waterfall watching.

That's solid Granite it's stuck into in the last couple pics, right?

:D

Great pics- thanks for sharing!

Yep, and if you can pull it from the stone you will be made King.

.....wearing down....want the orange RC-3.....really want one......

Is there a knife in those pictures? I can't tell because of the orange glare coming off of something in the pics. *shields eyes*

Very nice!

How do you like your lanyard? I am slowly taking them off all my knives. They seem to cause more hinderance than good in my experiences.

We don't use lanyards on sheath knives in the jungle since they tend to hang on everything real easy. We will use them on machetes when working around rivers but we carry machetes in our hand all the time instead of in a sheath. Another thing we don't like is saw back machetes in the jungles. They get hung on everything too when carrying them in your hand going through bush.

The lanyard is mainly for looks, if I was doing something serious, I'd probably take it off. The RC-4 is a great hiking knife, not too big, not too small (sounds like Goldilocks), damn near perfect.

I'm with you guys on the whole lanyard thing. Most of the knives I have made don't even have a lanyard hole. It's very useful when working in an area that puts you at risk for losing the knife if dropped, but I never use them besides that. I don't like lanyards on machetes because of the backlash that can happen if you lose your grip. An 18" blade swinging back at you can ruin your day real quick. If your above water it is only wise to use one and swing carefully. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference, and it's always nice to have the option. Nice pics, It's always a great day when your outside.

I don't much care for lanyards but I still keep them handy for those occasions where I might need one to keep from dropping the knife into an abyss.

Don't like lanyards on big blades -- don't want them flailing around if I lose my grip.

But I did come up with a way to keep the lanyard from catching everything and serve another purpose. On a sheath with a firesteel loop and firesteel, I tuck the lanyard under the firesteel, and put the end of the loop over the end of the firesteel. It helps secure the knife, and the placement keep the lanyard from catching things.
