Just curious, have you guys ever thought of putting out a 'bushcraft' version of the RC4, ditching the choil and adding some thicker/rounder slabs?

Seems like it would be fairly straightforward as far as getting the different cuts.

alot of us asked this question awhile back Spooky let me see if I can find the thread...also mentioned blade with out paint ...

here is what I requested from that thread....
I would like to see a more bushcraft style blade from the RAT gang.
A2 or 01 Steel uncoated w/RC logo stamped in the Steel or carved on scales
Overall Length: 8.5"- 9"
Blade Length: 4.250"
Cutting Edge: 4" no choil
Blade Thickness: .170" w/thumb serration for firesteel on top of spine
Orange G10 Scales SS hardware
sheath w/RC firesteel

I agree with everything above. I would definitely buy that.

I kind of like the choil on the RC-4, and I sort of miss the coating on the RC-4 that I stripped. So I guess I wouldn't really change things. I do like the idea of a slightly thicker slabs. However, the RC-3 would benefit more from thicker slabs than the RC-4.

I know, I know - I'm not being helpful here, but those are my feelings. I kind of like the RC-4 just the way it is.

This would be an awesome knife, but I do have to ask, why not keep the the 1095?

I'd agree with that, except give it the RC-6 handle for more leverage and a larger grip.

Probably because uncoated A2 or O1 won't rust as fast as uncoated 1095.

I like the idea of an RC-3 or RC-4 without the choil. I also wouldn't mind an RC-4 with a thinner blade like the RC-3.
