Arrived home and there she was in all her glory...RC6 :D..I was excited...well just looking at the knife in the sheath is very impressive...I really like the thumb notches on the Sheath to aid in extracting the RC6 from it's awesome sheath...molded logo's in the sheath is a great added touch ! Ok.. I feel the edge...nice and sharp....Excellent fit & finish...never really noticed in picture of the RC6 the RC Knives USA on right side of blade before ,that is cool...The micarta scales have a good feel to them and as seen in the pics above never slipped once,I really like the swelled portion of the scales fits perfect in hand.I used the RC6 to split (Baton) some hardwood and she Ached for more... I am hoping to do more with her(RC6) this weekend and hopefully add to this thread..I may help a buddy out in TN. Jeff Law and sent him one of my RC3/RC4 and my newly aquired RC6 for a pattern for leather Britches he has been getting inquiries on but no blades..it would just make orders go faster for him...so I may hook him up...:thumbup:they'll be missed but in a great craftsman hand..gotta help a brother out !;)

I love this blade. More so than any other we have ever done.

hopefully we can revisit the issue of Orange & Green for the RC6 :D;) of course after the Izula & RC5....

Nice shots Texastony! For me, the specs on this knife really don't do it justice. This knife feels gigantic. When you read - blade edge 5.75" you get this picture in your head that this knife will be a bit larger than a bushcrafter. However, the blade width on this thing is very large and also very nicely balanced in the hand. There is nothing small or even what I would call 'mid-sized' about this knife.

(I just sent off my spare RC-6 to Fonly today. He is a long time W&SS'r from Alberta. I asked him to give the RC-6 some hell and he was happy to accept the responsibility)

I'm looking forward to your more extensive review of the RC-6 this weekend. I'm with you on one thing - this is a pretty kick-ass knife!

I split alot of Oak with it and the RC6 did and excellent job. I used it to get a fire going from my LMF firesteel....took alittle bit due to the outer layer of the oak was wet from rain last night...but split the oak to get to the inner dry portion and splintered the oak to make twigs and fuzz sticks and bingo bango fire....
your right kgd looking at the specs it sounds mid sized but it is large and has great control for a big blade. I am hoping to grab a second RC6 ,I love the girth of the knife & balance .

Guh... Almost makes me want to take the RC4 off my christmas list, and put the RC6 on it. What are you guys doing to me??!!

Hey guys

Yeah, now all I gotta do is get through the next coupple days to get the KNIFE!
Can't wait to give it a run through, you guys will like it for sure.
Pics and review up in a little bit. :D

Good review Tony!! I have had mine now for about 1.5 months. I used it very heavily in a few camping trips and let me tell you that it was pure magic!!! The fit of the handle was perfect. It is balanced and feels really good. The blade was rock hard and very sharp. I used it to cut and baton some fire wood and other camping chores as well as a fire stick(I know what you are all thinking!! lol). I wanted to see how it held up under extreme conditions. I wish I had pictures!!!! It got a ton of use and is still sharp. It got used in the fire and all that happened was some random dark spots on the coating. RC makes a mans man knife and I recommend them to everyone I meet.

I agree Bro...The RC6 is a great blade and couple the RC6 with the RC3 or the Izula and you have a great camping duo ...:D (lol;))

Jeff can handle it ,I just have yet to decide RC6 & RC3 or Izula ? I bet I am looking at 4-10 week lead time....but Damn he does Flawless work ,I love the other sheath I have from him.....Top of the Line Leather !

oh hell yea it is!!! I have had him do a few different ones for me and he is a pleasure to work with and the quality is second to none.

Is that blade long enough to be a good chopper? I see a lot of people who prefer knives between 7 and 10 inches. I am leaning heavily toward making this knife my next purchase, and I know I'll get no arguments on this forum.
I love my RC3.

I would honestly say it is not a chopper....it can chop do not get me wrong but the weight of the RC6 is not hefty enough to be considered a chopper it will do but I think you'll have to work extra hard vs. ax or hatchet..it is good for Baton wood and other camp chores and does it flawlessly as it was designed..man I love this blade..A+ RC Guys on the RC6 !!

IMO, the width of the blade makes up for its shorter length. The knife has a lot of mass to it, but also because of the weight of the mircata is balanced nicely. This was about 4 min of chopping. It was a good sizeable piece of hardwood. I think I could have made it through a little faster with my Fiskar's, but not by that much.

Alternatively, I would never attempt this with my buck 119 which is much lighter and very poorly suited for chopping - but good at slicing chores. I found that using more controlled accurate hits far more affective than chopping with uncontrolled, high force.

As you get to a longer and heavier (i.e. .25" thick) knife, belt carry becomes less and less of an option. The thing that I like about the RC-6 is that it rides on the belt very nicely and you don't take notice of it when it is there. You can't say the same thing for a 9", 1/4" thick chopper. In fact a lot of users candidly admit that the really big choppers get used mainly in the backyard.

man I can't wait until I get the chance to handle the RC6. From what I've been hearing about the balance, I am STOKED!!! Thanks for all the pics!
