Really impressed with Case CV knives

Over the past couple of months I've bought some new Case CV knives.

An amber bone large stockman, chestnut bone muskrat, dark red bone slimline trapper, and chestnut bone medium stockman.

As it says in the thread title, I'm really impressed.

The fit and finish on all of these knives is excellent.
Tight blades with really good snap, beautifully turned bolsters, well matched handle scales, etc. - everything you'd look for in a quality slipjoint.

And the edges are very, very sharp.
All of these knives, right out of their boxes, push-cut paper easily.

Moreover, I think the most any of them cost was about $45.00.
And they have a lifetime warranty.

I only wish that Case made more patterns with CV blades.

In my recent experience, they're some of the best production slipjoints around.

It's good to see your positive thread regarding Case, especially since it follows a not so positive one ( this morning, anyway.)
I hang out on their forum regularly....I think I'll stir up some CV pot!!

I just got the Chestnut Swayback in CV
Superb

I also just got a Peanut and Slimline trapper in yellow CV
......
Enough said?

I sure like em! I have been more impressed lately than in the passed. Not many things I can say that about.

Wasn't too long ago all one could find in CV was the yellow but now more CV in bone

I'm after a Chestnut Bone Medium Stockman, I like the blade assortment on this, Pen rather than Spey. Lot of bills coming in though so it might have to wait...or not!

I love mine, and plan on getting a couple more. The Chesnut Swayback and Yellow Trapper look like must haves. My Amber Bone med. Stockman has been used and carried everyday since I got it Christmas, and my old Hunter and field dressed 2 deer this year....Yep, I like my CV Case knives ;)

This year I picked up the yellow Peanut and the amber bone Canoe. I really love both. I am thinking of checking out GEC (a single blade Barlow in 1095) to see how they compare with Case but I can't imagine that I'd be any more impressed than I've been with Case. We'll see... soooner or later.

The only other "trad" knives I have are a Fontenille Pataud laguiole by Gilles and an Opinel. My others are tactical and SAKs.

Welcome to the traditionals! In order to gain knowledge and further your education (ahem ;)), your really should get that GEC sooner rather than later! :D

I bought the mini trapper in chestnut bone and it is a great knife.I forced a patina, and carry it everyday.great quality.I have purchased about 20 case xx in the last year and they have all been top quality.I believe case quality is better than ever.I am waiting for my dealer to get in his 2010 stag trappers, the new line up from case looks great.I am getting a new hawkbill as well.

I turly appreciate my amber bone Medium Stockman (63032CV), my yellow Peanut, my yellow Trapper, my amber bone Texas Jack, and my OLD green bone Case Tested XX penknife...all in CV of course! They take and hold a great edge.

Showed this pic in another thread, but as to the Texas Jack in CV:  +. Both blades lay centered in their slots, both will push cut paper, and a few swipes on a steel or strop will have them back to popping if they get a little dull. I love this little guy!

I just got into traditionals and I really like the value of a case. Great designs and plenty of choices.

My son got a yellow peanut in Cv and the mailman should be dropping me off a Slimline trapper in CV red bone this afternoon.

All of mine have been great so far. I can get a wicked edge on them. And I love the patina of the blades. Now to find one or get them to start making a split back whittler with a bone handle in Cv steel. I'd be all over that.

Amen on the Case CV Texas Jack! It is still new but it's getting carried daily.

Er, it's on its way to my arctic hideaway right now:D:D

lwt210 that's an impressive Bonestag Large Stockman! Really envy that, been after one since the dawn of time:eek:

Well thank you! Yeah, as soon as I laid eyes on it on the bay, I had to have it.

Here are some more pics of that one and the Texas Jack (if I can find that pic).

Patina goes so well with Bonestag. Got a Medium Stockman that I keep in the car as an emergency knife, very good colour on that.

CASE must be mad to have withdrawn Bonestag, it was one of their nicest scales.
