Hi Folks, Just wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase some RED Liner material. Most of the Knife suppliers only have a Brick Red now and not any true RED. Would appreciate any info anyone has in this matter. Kathleen

Hi,
If you look in the gallery section Don Cowles has posted a picture of a knife with red liners, he used red construction paper. He probally used lots of epovy so none of the un-coated paper was left exposed.

Hi,
A fellow called Osprey Guy has been using plastic plates from Target. Says they glow when waxed. I tried it and feel that rough sanding the plastic first is needed to assure a good grip with the epoxy. Being paranoid, I also cut out part of the hidden material to assure a better grip between the steel and handle(wood). I am not sure of the life of the material, but they seem to live forever in our ditches and landfills.
Nan likes her knife...Ken

Kathleen, you can go to your local grocery store & buy red plastic picnic plates, these will work fine, as will plastic bottles containing liquid soap, etc., just don't get them too hot on your buffer or the edge can melt.....I have used plastic covers from notebook binders also with success.....the variety of colors available is endless.....

I bought some red plastic liner material from TKS. Haven't used it yet but I like it's properties - I just haven't had a use for real red yet. :)

Go to an Art supply shop and buy some thin red cardboard, remember it will darken when wet and stay that way. Then by the cheapest super glue you can find and soak the card in it, wait for it to dry and voila! The best card is one that has only one layer, generally the type used by illustraitors. The sales person should know the one I mean. Regards Peter.

I've used the construction paper too but my favorite is file folders that I snarf from my bank!!;) Soak the He!! out of them in thinned Epoxy first. For thicker spacers in all colors, go to an electronics store and get wire spools. They come in just about any color you can imagine. For red, the plastic tool boxes they sell for 2 or 3 dollars should work well.....Another few years I may be walking the streets with a shopping cart going through peoples trash!;) :o
