Hey Guys,

I don't post in this forum much, but I lurk occasionally. I mostly carry Benchmades, Spyderco's etc due to the pocket clip and light weight. Plus in California for some reason you can carry a folding knife concealed, but open carry, like in a belt pouch is proscribed. Go figure. Notwithstanding that I have various 110's and 112's although they don't get carried or used much.

I just felt like expressing my renewed appreciation for my Buck 112FG to a receptive audience. I was doing a little woodworking today and was shifting around for a comfortable knife to work with. I started with an Opinel, went to a Case Sodbuster, and then the Buck 112FG. That's the knife I should have started with, and will from now on. It's just so comfortable and such a pleasure to use. The blade shape, grind, handle shape, materials, weight, all just seem to come together into a perfectly integrated package. Plus it's such a handsome beast.

Well like I said, not many people could relate to such rhapsodizing but I knew this crowd probably could.

Thanks

Jim

There might be a few people around here that will argue with you about your appreciation of the 112 but it won't be me:D I agree completely.

I carried the 112 for work for many years and it was a great knife to have. It held up well and is still being used (at home at a reduced pace) after 35 years.

Mike,

Version one ? I could stand that photo on a plainer background for use in photo project for BCC model descriptions on close-up photo of all the older 112 versions, several guys have helped out so far. A emailed file would be great, will give you owner/photo credit. (PS yes I am doing the same on the 300s but there are so dad gum many it will take a while, 112s are less in #.)

300$s

...Longbeachguy I agree with Sue, Mike and 'stag on the 112...This one may be "tweaked" a bit to my liking but it finds it's way into my pocket quite a bit...:thumbup:

Does this work any better? If not I'll take a new photo when I get home this weekend.

On the 112 history and the forums running lil brother to 110 kiddin around comments ....before tech knives became the rage, heck before tech were invented, Buck 112 'RANGERS' were the status symbol on the belt of any good Park Ranger or Wildlife Officer. Timber cruisers carryed'em along with fire fighters. They were prefered for their compact size, they rode the belt well, the stiff blade and smaller handle let everyone except the biggest hoss or littlest nature girl have good control. Once you got that old 440C sharp, it stayed sharp. Nothing wrong with the 110s , they just weren't the Buck "RANGER". Tech knives and super cop movies changed everyone to pocket clip G-10 stuff. All except a few ole farts, yours truly being one, held on to the last pay stub. You had to have a nice custom sheath also, mine was holster leather, split calf lined, dark brown. Quality lasts and I still wear it. Pull out a 112 or a 110 now and the new generation will call you historic.
That is why I have only 2 110s but 7 112s. PS ususally had 112 on belt, and a 300 in pocket for detail work. 300bucks
