She's a beaut ! I'm still working on a review, and haven't fully run it through all the tests, if there are cutting type things you guys/gals would like to see let me know, just won't be anything that's abusive as that's a no-no with anything!

Thanks again Rob!

Ooops forgot to give thanks to the one that made this knife possible! Mr. Tom Walz, who is the owner of the company that makes the Talonite material! Quite a while ago he had made a contest here on BladeForums as to `Why do you deserve to win a Talonite Knife?' the reasons in the posts were just for fun, he took all the entries and put them in a hat and drew the winner, which was fortunately ME, I was floored! I received an EDI Genesis I in ATS-34 and was going to get one in Talonite as a comparison deal, but for one reason or another the second knife never came about. So with the help of Bob Allman, sort of my go between, and Tom Walz and Rob, Tom asked if I'd be happy to receive this knife instead? Huh? well heck yeah! I opted for the Desert Ironwood scales and they are very comfortable in the hand. Rob did a great job on the fit and finish, even with nice file work on the back liners and spacer! A real class act!
So Thanks again to all! I warned Mr. Walz that my review will be as unbiased as I would only report things as they really are and to that he was adamant that I do the review and he didn't need to proof it! Very nice to talk with him.

Man Gary,

I have never liked the carnivour at all, but that is very very sweet looking. And it looks like Rob did a very nice job with the ironwood. I am sure you will be enjoying that for some time to come.

Gorgeous knife Gary.

When you get a sheath made up for it, as I know you will, please post a picture of it for me and the other forumites.

Couldn't have been won by a better person.

Thanks SammyB, it really is nice with the flat grind and all, and it push cuts like crazy. The edge isn't as thin as a Sebenza but according to Rob that's the best way to work the Talonite material.

Here is a peek at the nice file work Rob did on the back of the knife.

Notice the grain matches up from one scale to the next? Nice touch, nice work.

Thanks Larry! You must have been typing when I was posting. I finished a sheath for Bob Allman, as he has a similar knife in Desert Ironwood also, once I hear that it fits his knife, used mine as a template, then I'll get to work on mine. Using an old Balisong cloth sheath for the time being....you know the old saying, coblers without shoes?

Man, that Rob S. makes a beautiful knife. I like my Crawford Carnivore but she stands a bit like plain jane in comparison. Faithful I will remain though since it would take years with Rob's waiting list.

Ahhhh, looks very nice Gary, I know how you feel! Once Rob gets to mine (many moons from now
wink.gif
), I'll be getting a sheath from you for it. I plan to amuse myself over the intervening time by trying to find a scale material that will top what you and Bob have; not an easy task!!!

Gary,

Beautiful knife man! Makes me wonder how I get by with my plain jane REKAT model...

Love the knife (along with all the rest of Rob's work).

Waldo

Hello,

Yep Its a beauty!! ROB`s a First Class Craftsman/Knifemaker!!

That Arizona ironwood looks excellent.

Have Fun with it,
Allen

Yep Brian, it came way ahead of my birthday, Rob said once he started on it then he gets like a bulldog and finishes it right up, he initially thought I'd see it late September, but as things got more and more hectic, he's a busy guy!, the date moved out, but I wasn't worried and now she's here and even my wife likes it and that says quite a bit!

Brian, if you get to where you want a sheath for yours I'll probably need to borrow yours for a bit, as I know they are similar in shape and size but the sheaths really need to have a personal fit up to work well, I'm waiting to hear how Bald1's sheath fits as I used my knife as the template to make his, if it doesn't work, then I get that sheath as mine and his knife to make a new sheath. Fun stuff!
wink.gif
of course we'd have to wait a few years for the newness to wear off and you'd be willing to part with it for a week...I'd understand fully!

Gary,
Glad you finally got it - EARLY NO LESS!!!. Rob is not only an incredible maker but one h**l of a good person. Yours looks incredible - Rob picked out some great Ironwood for you - I hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine. Am looking forward to the review - I know mine cuts incredibly well & in one month of daily use I have yet to have to sharpen it. One thing I have noticed is when you carry it in your pocket as opposed to a pouch or sheath the wood scales pick up your body heat & feel incredible - very sensual! Just don't carry anything else in your pocket - this is one knife you don't want to scratch up!!!! I'm happy for you!

Hope you like the Dozier Reverse Tanto - I like the Talonite Cetan a little better but the Dozier is a great knife in its own right - didn't mean to make you fell bad about it!

Have a Happy Birthday(it is one nice present)!

Bill
Oh,I would be interested in one of your sheaths for mine in the future.

Looks nice Bill! I can see a slight difference between our contours, the knives that is
wink.gif
, and that's why I'd need to borrow yours to make a sheath to really fit it. The wood is a nice feel, you are right on the money with that!

I did feel bad about the Dozier, but still like it and I've a Cetan Hawkbill on order, next year sometime.

My email is phoofed so I'm changing it to my Yahoo email address on the forums;

Chiseledge@yahoo.com

That way I shouldn't have to worry about the work one!

Figured out that when I hold back on the lock release and flick the knife opens pretty darn quick!

Still cutting like crazy, haven't had the need to sharpen it yet.

Polished the scales with 1200 grit (white) polishing compound and the Ironwood really, really looks three dimensional, very pretty material!
