i recently got a Rekat Hobbit Fang in a trade, its a great knife and the sheath is sweet, but for some reason mine only has 4 holes in the handle, every other one i've seen has had 5 holes. can anybody help me out? on the left side of the knife, right in front of where the fifth hole should be, R.E.K.A.T. is etched into the knife, under it is the REKAT eye, and U.S.A. on the bottom. the left side of the sheath also has an extra hole where the tip of the knife is. thanks.

I don't know how many holes the handle "should" have, but the hole in the sheath by the tip is a drain for any water that gets in.

I just looked at my REKAT Hobbit Fang, and it has 5 holes in the handle. Are you SURE that yours is a Hobbit Fang, and not a REKAT Utility?...Does yours have a curved blade, or is it straight?

Mine's only got four holes too! It's the fang, with the curved blade. Crazy stuff. I agree that it's a sweet blade, I carry mine taped to the shoulder strap of my Camelback while hiking and riding my bike. It's light enough not to notice but right there when I need it. The only problem is the corrosion resistance, basically nonexistent on the edge due the 1095 steel used. It takes a wicked edge on my Edge Pro though, so I can't complain in that department.

Dang, it looks like REKAT made 2 versions (as well as carbon and stainless [ATS-34] versions.).

yea, i'm sure its the hobbit fang, any idea why they made one version with 4 holes and the other with 5? and how to identify the steel used in the 4 hole version? TIA.

Kenny
