I recently picked up a REKAT Hobbit Warrior and it was heavily modified. Mods include handle, skull crusher, and hand guard, the blade is unmodified and in fantastic condition. The mods appear to all have been field mods, and are therefore fairly rough to say the least. I would like to find a custom maker that could help refurbish this wonderful knife. Any suggestions?

You may post in STR's forum.

There are a few other folks on here too that might have advice.

A clear pic of the knife from a few angles might be nice. :)

Was it by chance the one that was recently listed on E-bay? The back half of the guard was cut off and the pommel ground away if I recall correctly??

Thats the one...No one was bidding and i got a stellar deal on a good working knife. Now I just want to get it gussied up a bit.

The guard was ground down, the pommel is nonexistent, and the rubber material on the handle has been chopped up kind of. It's a really well used knife but like I said, the blade and tang are in great condition. The edge is well maintained and I took the entire thing apart to inspect for rust that may have occurred under the handle material and only found a little lite surface oxidation-no pitting. Any suggestions folks? I think it can be made into a pretty keen knife. In all honesty the collectability is not even a factor to me, I just think it will make a great user. I have always enjoyed the REKAT's. I own a few pioneer folders and they have all been really good using knives.

BTW SDS I am also located in OKC. Any suggestions, you want to take a crack at it? I know that we have some folks around here that do some fine work. But the ones I know are tasked with their own lines. I have some friends in Corpus that could get me hooked up with Mike Snody but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be interested in the project. I really just need someone who knows their way around a shop and can do some lite fabrication ie. new handle, guard, pommel and fitted kydex or nice leather sheath.

Sorry I haven't seen this post in awhile. I don't know that I'd feel comfortable taking on a job like that myself. I don't mind hacking on my own blades but if I messed up someone else's it would suck.

I can't think of anyone off hand around here that would be willing to do a job like that.

If you want to shoot me a pm. I live out by Piedmont.
